I'm having trouble getting the handle on my spins. When approaching the wake, is it best to keep the handle in tight and low?? When I try to do that, I can't seem to build enough edge to get too high. Also, when rotating, I can spin fine but lose the handle. Can anyone help?

you dont need to keep the handle low when your approaching the wake, but once your in the air, pull it in and keep it low. this makes is easier to pass the handle

im kind of confused with your problem though, just cut in normal , and then once your in the air pull it in and all that fun stuff, hope this helps

I think my problem is with my cut. When I try to go big, I think I might be leaning back too far so when I'm in the air and spinning, I'm off axis , my arms are out too straight and I can't get the rope. What's the best way to get bigger air without leaning??

shorter more proggresive edge is how you go big on your 3s. You probly have to much tension on your rope because your edging so fast. Think short and proggresive.

Should I edge more with my heels and keep my body up rather than lean back and against the rope for tension??

yeah i would probably try to stay a little more upright with your body, and use your legs to get the pop you want. Try to edge out about 10-12 feet and just jump wake to wake(no 360). When your in the air try to let go of the handle and regrab it again(suicide), this will help you get that handle. Passing the handle a little later in the spin helps sometimes to, just keep thinking different thoughts and youll get it. do it wrapped.

Best things that helped me was to jump more toward the boat than across the wake, stay vertical, pop, turn, pass and keep the handle in. If you stay upright and keep your head up, with the thought that you should arch your back like a stike up, you will keep a good rotation.
Also don't just work on this trick, do the toeside, go blind side and keep up with the basics

turning your head def. helps, your body goes where your head goes.

as for getting the handle when you pass it put it to the small of your back and dont let go until you have it in your other hand.

what helped me to get it was before i did the hs 3 i would go out the wake toeside and bs ollie 180 then go over and do it.

Although no one rides like him, I think about Shapiro and how he sets into the wake. Upper body rock solid upright and just loaded. Elbows on the love handles. Lower body is squated down and set. You wanna really emphasize the pop & take it up. So get a good edge without leaning way back and really explode off the top of the wake, you basically come off edge as you go through the top. This isn't slalom skiing you don't lean way back and stand really tall, you get low compact and generate power/speed that way. Good luck. Any more ?'s, just ask.

i have the same problem, try taking it wake to wake, the landing is softer and when you land you go a little faster down the wake and this give you more time to get a good grip on the handle.

POP PULL then PASS

Don't let go until you place it in the other hand!

This is not a spin trick it's a handle pass trick!

I tell people that spin fine but can't get the handle pass for the life of them to try this.... Don't spin! leave the wake and reach for the handle at the small of your back. If you think about it, the only way to do it is to pull hard enough so you can place the handle in your hand. Once you finish the handle pass the trick is done. The boat will pull you around the rest of the way. The trick is passing the handle not spinning!

J DOGG could not be more right. Don't even think about the spin, think about the pass. That's all there is to it. And of course, don't start to pass the handle until you are at the PEAK of your jump. Trust me on that one, unless you want to go off-axis.

Later...

Hey Stephan, I tried staying more upright and had to really pull in hard with my arms to keep the handle in and my edge progressive. Is that normal?? Should I be applying more edge on my heels?? I really popped high on a couple but I think my position may be off a little. When I see other guys going big, they make it look so easy.

yank the handle right past your back hip and hang on to it with one hand until you are almost fully rotated, then passit, making sure both hands are on the handle at the same time for a split second

I have the same problem... (talking about the handle pass) do u have to pull the handle just at the moment you hit the wake or once you are in the air after you left the wake????

I also have the same edging, arms and standing position problem with my backrolls, when I try to keep my arms low and in I feel Im edging very slow and I can land 2 or 3 out of 5 backroll attemps...

Pull the handle after you are in the air whith the handle by your waist, keep the handle at your waist during backrolls too.

ok thanks, But what about th edge, do I have to edge all the way with the handle low and in or do I have to edge with my arms extended and just pull the handle and keep it low and in at the moment I hit the wake(I have seen a lot of people doing it this way for example Lauren Harf)?

Ok, I've had the same problem. Take a normal cut to the wake. I like to keep my handle in just a bit, kinda inbetween all the way out and all the way in. (In my opinion thats all preferance) Hold your edge all the way through. (Your doing a regular wake to wake jump) Stand tall at the top of the wake(This doesn't imply letting off your edge at all) and start your spin. But dont really go for a 360, think about doing a 180 first and keep your rotation going. Stay standing tall and place that handle right on the small of your back, put it there so you can feel it, turn your head (Your still standing tall) with your rotation, place the other hand in the handle and hold on for the ride cause now that you have the handle in your other hand, the boat will pull you the rest of the way around. Now ride away like you've landed too many of em.

Hope this helps let us know when you stick it.
