I did a search and couldn't find anything specific on this instructional DVD, but have any of you seen it? Have it? Is it worth 90 bucks? I have Detention, but I need some more detail....and some of the jokes get really old after awhile. Thanks

I actually did take a lesson once--not sure if it helped much , but of course one lesson of anything is not enough. Unfortunately, I live in a place now where no one offers lessons. Besides, it's winter, so I wouldn't be riding now anyway.

I've got Higher Learning and it's very good. Has helped me greatly. Starts with getting up and goes thru some crazy stuff I'll probably never even try (Like off-axis 9's Shocked ). Not sure if you were asking for other videos, but that's what I had to offer. Haven't heard of the one you mentioned. The book?

I got "The Book". Its a very good DVD, theire is 5 different soundtracks to choose from for who you want to be choached by. #1 is the best for detail, all the others cant talk real productionally good. It is by far the best instructional out there, I bought invert1 invert2 and spins. Do what you want to do with ur money but if you wanna learn w/o a coach its the way to go.

I agree with what Snowkid said--it's the second best way to learn--the only thing better is a coach. I've been to the Wakeboard Camp and was really impressed with all of the techniques and drills they have developed to teach people tricks progressively (increasing the difficulty in small steps instead of big ones). I was really impressed that they put all of their techniques and tricks on the DVDs. The damn thing is like 8 hours long!

I also have higher learning and detention. Neither one is in the same class as The Book. Frankly, you don't learn a whole lot from either, unless you just needed to see someone do a trick in slow motion to be able to do it yourself. The book really takes you through the whole process of learning each trick, starting with the trampoline and including on the water drills and easier tricks you can build on to master more complicated ones. The only thing better is having someone in the boat who knows all this stuff so they can tell you what you did wrong when you crash.

www.thebookdvd.com

looks like a great investment if you are serious about wanting to improve your riding, I asked my wife to get it for me for my b-day (the whole set), can't wait to see it and take it to the water. I believe the whole set (5 dvds) is $100 but if you buy them seperatley they are $30 bucks each. Makes sense to me to spend an extra $10 to get all of them instead of just the 3 of inverts and spins. Especially the 2nd one, which really teaches you how to edge and pop correctly for different tricks.

I have the book as well. It is very detailed and worth your money. It has set the bar for all wakeboarding instructional DVDs. I cant wait to get out and try some of the drills they mention. The only thing that beats this DVD is a personal coach.

Instructional DVD's are intended to be used as a starting point NO dvd can teach you everything YOU need to do to land a certain trick. They can break it down step by step, that's great and what most people need to start with but then the natural athletic ability needs to take over (tryn the trick). That's when the coach comes in, they can see what YOU are doing wrong and what YOU need to correct to land X trick. NO DVD can tell you what YOU are doing wrong it can just point out common problems and break a trick down to it's most basic elements. for some people that is all they need, for most weekend worriers with bad habits they need a coach to tell them what they are doing wrong on X trick and what they should do to correct the problem. you may think you are doing the trip flip edge right but you will never know unless some that's knows what's up sees you in action and can confirm that.

A good coach can spot these things after just a few cuts into the wake. Different people need to worry about different things for the same trick.

I was doing Crows before Tantrums other people learn Tantrum first, it's just life, some people find some things easy when some things drive them nuts.
