falling invert on snow - (well east coast ice) - disaster
fallin invert on water - not bad
catching an edge on either sucks, happens more wakeboarding
but in general the slams on a snowboard are harder
right now i got some nice back problems going from a 30 foot jump that i turned into a 40 footer, luckily it had a nice long landing so i didn't get in the flats but still got some soreness, and it was a crappy way to end my season, another 2 weeks of winter left but idon't think i'll be able to get up there again |

cezza, If you're flying off a rail and eat it, you don't stop either it's more like (well okay from my experience this year) - Jump, grind on the rail, jump off the other end, catch the front toe edge, flip, flip, flip, flip - slide to a stop 10 yards later - clear the snow off of my goggles, look up and see my daughter who didn't catch her edge laughing hysterically as she asks if I'm okay, catch my breath and realize that I can't have a beer until I get to the lodge...
Still, I like snowboarding better, because I don't have a boat and I've only been out wakeboarding twice... _________________ You say psycho like it's a bad thing... |

ha true cezza i spend my time in study hall on these sites
i cna't wait to wakeboard this year although my friend gave me a skateboard yesterday and i started doing that and after about 2 hours i started getting ollies rolling down my drive way
rolling down my like 50 foot driveway gave me more of a scare then looking down a 100 m double black on my snowboard - it was crazy |

Snowboarding for all the reasons mentioned here.
Another thing with wakeboarding: Too damn technical and not enough variety.....snowboarding at its most basic level (just cruising/riding) is still fun....wakeboarding is pretty much centered around all technical tricks that is a constant effort to try and land.
I think of wakeboarding like going on a snowboard and hitting the exact same jump in the terrain park over and over.
I guess if you are progressing in wakeboarding pretty fast and nailing a variety of tricks it is pretty fun.....but most of the time it seems like a big constant effort to land trick after trick....tough to get consistent too if you don't have your own boat and ride frequently. |

marcg, not entirely true. You can just ride. Its really fun to just do sprays, surfcarves, lipslides, etc.
I like wakeboarding better because
Falls arent as bad
You dont get as cold
Hot girls wear much less clothing on a boat vs. a slope
more accesible/cheaper except if you have a boat. But no lift tickets!
I love water |

I love both sports but i would rather go snowboarding. im a lot better ive gone more times snoboarding than wakeboarding this year. the downs to sno is that you really cant go to big unless ur good and girls have more clothing on i guess thats a big plus for wakeboarding _________________ USMC 0351 |

yea but i don't pick up chicks when i ride anyway. my usual group is 3 other guys and 4 girls from school and we ride but they're all pretty crappy so its just general riding. then i usually ride weekends alone or with 1 or 2 guys and do park. besides if you want to pick up a girl based on snowboarding, there are scars to prove you back up the talking - wakeboarding its like, i have a headache again, or stuff i can't walk i'm having knee surgery |

screw the chicks at the snow im more keen to ride than worry about them haha. last season i used to ride with my girl but didnt enjoy it as much as riding with my guy mates, she couldnt keep up with me so i guess thats why + i enjoy chilling with my guy mates up there rather than my girl. but she dumped me after last season for someone else haha _________________ eNMesh clothing

both sport's bails can be awful. Ive broken both wrists (different times) snowboarding, and ive gotten a really bad cuncussion wakeboarding, thats just what comes with the sports. and ive often thought about this question, and heres my answer: both. i came to the conclusion that i could NEVER give up one for the other, i will ALWAYS do both. |

I would snowboard if I could cause you don't need to buy a boat just a lift ticket and like marcg said it's a lot of fun to just cruise down the mountain taking in the view. _________________ Cybernetic Ghost-I am the ghost of Christmas Past and I will tell you what Christmas was like

snowboarding. much less of a hassle, and rails, kickers, ect. are much easier to find or to have. with wakeboarding, you need to make a slider that floats right so it doesnt tip, and you cant just take the water and a shovel and make a little kicker to do an indy on. you have the wake, but you cant really change the size of it that much. on a snowboard, you cna have a kicker thats 4 feet high, and another thats 2 feet. you can have a rail and not wory about the evp taking it away. you dont have to have a couple of people to ride the boat, and you dont have to take turns. _________________ <CBV>

would have have to go with snowboarding. much more freedom. I mean.....what would be easier to go out and do if your by yourself? I have a boat (not the best) and a place to go not even 5 miles away. I do agree with the whole thing about bailing.....wakeboardin hurts less. you can even practice just jumping off the boat doing inverts to get comfortable with them. but it does cost more to maintain...as far as the boat. but with snowboarding its always easier to find something to work on tricks, whether its rails or jumps and more variety. only 2 seasons of snowboardin and have only been out maybe 4 times wakeboardin since last year, so kinda new to both sports.maybe my opinion will change in time....but doubt it |
