| I just bought a new 250 gig maxtor hardive which works great, but i have a question about partitioning it. How has everyone else broken up there large hard drives, or have you just left it as one big partition? |

Each person is different - personally I have a 250 GB hard drive as one big partition for video editing, and then I have an 80 GB broken down into 4 partitions. On for my main drive, one for MP3's, one for gaming files, and one for Digital pictures. _________________ If you do not like your job, you don't strike....You just go in there everyday and do it really half a$$ed.....Now that's the American way - Homer Simpson. |

garveyj, why did you partition that drive. Is there an advantage to it? _________________ http://www.integrity-wake.com

| Partitioning will probably not help find files quicker. The benefits of it are if you have 2 different things that you want to seperate. On my computer I have 1 80 gig hard drive and I have it partitioned to where 20 gigs is my C drive and has windows and all of the programs I install. On my D drive (the other 60 gigs) I have all of my storage files (music, videos, etc). The benefit of this is when I want to format my hard drive and reinstall windows I only have to delete that one partition and my other partition remains intact. This saves me from having to burn all of my storage files every time I want to format and reinstall windows. |
