Hi,

I have over 1000 songs listed in my current playlist and I am now positive that winamp is not randomizing them. I think its taking 50 songs and semi-randomizing them.

I've seen this behavior with Winamp a lot, but it is just now dawning on me that someone must have written a fix for it. I did not see anything like "a better randomizer" on their Web site, under plugins.

Thus I'm ready to boot Winamp for some other lightweight player (not windows media player).

Does anyone know of a good, lightweight, free player than has a true random play feature?

Thanks,
Erik

ITunes.

And no you don't need an Ipod or Mac to have and use ITunes.

itunes

I used winamp forever and it was hard to make the switch, but I found that winamp slowed my computer down tremendously. I have had no trouble with itunes, and the random feature will not play the same song until every other song on your playlist is played.

Erik Jernberg, you should be able to change the randomization level of your "shuffle." in the options somewhere should be a shuffle option that ranges from 1-100 or something like that where 1 is the least amount of variety and 100 is the most variety within the playlist. by "least amount of variety" i mean that it will play #1 on the playlist then #5 then #9, #3, #11, #6 out of maybe 100 songs. the most variety will be something like #1, #49, #30, #92, #41, etc...

bluefish86 - Just don't like it. Maybe I hadn't figured it out right, but it would take forever to import my library, and then it moves your files around (I know you change that), and then you delete the stuff from your Itunes Library and it gets booted off your comp. Well, granted I'm pretty sure I could have avoided most of the problems I had with it, but I'm just not a fan... haha Rolling Eyes

Maestro, that makes sense. iTunes takes control of the organization your music, so it's not too great if you like to organize it yourself or use multiple playing programs. You also have to get used to how it organizes your music so you can find it easily.

I love it, though, because I never want to deal with the files, plus it's instant search feature is awesome. I'm in a dorm and I also like how if I'm in someone else's room, I can play music off my comp through the network (or play other's peoples music from my room).
