is it easier to just build a base or drive the poles into the sand. the water isn't deep at all...maybe four feet tops..just wondering if i should spend the money on more wood and build a base or try and drive them into the sand...any cool easy methods?

driving into sand is a chore....you don't need much extra wood for a base, but make sure you weight it down a bit so it doesn't get up and go....

I would drive the post because you don't have to worry about it moving and also the ground might not be level under water where you place the slider I build most of mine near land or a beach or bank where the ground slopes up to the shore.

Put the posts in the sand, the slider will be alot more stable and won't more if there is a big wind.

i actually went out to where i am gonna build it. i don't think it will be too hard to drive them in and with side supports i won't need to put them really far in. should work out pretty good. planning on a 36'-48' a frame..haven't decided on the length...probably end up six feet out of the water or so....hopefully none of the local yuppies complain..thanks for the input...

wbc_bill, in ms paint go to "image" and then "stretch and skew". set the size percentages to what you wish.
