I under stand that it rides higher on the water but does it make that much diffrence. my cousin has a kampus and i love it and i used it all summer. I just don't want to dish out all that mony for a good board so my question is our hyperlites really that bad?

The 04 were just ok, there is a real problem with Hype's image in the wakeskatign community, but I have an 04 gate with chopped kick tails and it's tough as hell, it;s his some asphault, as far as riding high the 05 stuff is weighted 3 different ways center weight or tip weight or double layered fiberglass, personally if you really want a good skate from hype, compression go catalyst, it has more wood skate like edges, and if you want a good wood skate from hype go phriction, but my advise is go withthe catslyst, or one of the other compression molded skate for all the stuff talk I havent been dissapointed yet

...and some people have ridden hyperlite, then cassette and then integrity and have decided based on their own experiences that HL boards suck.

all hyperlite wakeskates are good not just 05, they havent changed since 03, except for that part you can buy now that holds you on the rail, which i think is really dumb add on. when i was looking at boards there wasnt to much differnce except for the names and graphics.

do some research before you write false claims. Hype's 05 skate line has changed completely.

....different concaves, shapes, weight distribution (I wonder who they got that idea from??) and a totally new board.

sounds to me like the guys in your "local shop" need a tech-clinic from your Hype rep.

hyperlyte, WRRROOOONNGG the 05's are way different, have you actually seen any c'mon know before you post

first off all the boards have a different shape rail style and concave style, second all are weighted in different and unique ways, and third the lock like it or not, not to mention the addition of the phriction, which in my opinion is better that LF's version of a foam concave skate, do a little research Im not going to hand it too you on a silver platter

Summit, have in the past, and will in the future; I am a rider owned company

You should be able to find a Kampus for about what you would get a hype r lite for.

hyperlyte,

Sorry. edited the previous post.

The thing is is that when you add that piece onto your skate, it allows for you to "lock" into nose slides. As in the rail would be underneath your right foot or left foot, depending on what foot foreward you are. A boardslide would be with the rail directly underneath the center of your board. Hope I could help!

yeah thats what i was told last time i was into the shop, so its kinda like a cheater to make your slides more smooth. so i have a question now, as a new wakeskater should i keep my 04 model or spend the extra cash for the 05 catalyst? will it make that big of a differnce for a new rider?
thanks for that summit your feedback on that question would be great!

hyperlyte, I run a large shop here in California, that being said....if any of my employees didn't know any of the info that you needed to know when buying that skate, they wouldn't be having a job for too much longer. Info like that is crucial to pass along to a customer, no matter what brand you are selling.
I'm very suprised that a dealer that carries Hype wouldn't know about the changes that were made to that line this year. It could boil down to the factory ssupport that the shop has recieved, but I highly doubt that. Typically a rep. that works for H.O. Sports does a damn good job at supporting his/her accounts.
If I were you, i'd take your new found knowledge and go school those shop rats that you've been dealing with.

hyperlyte,

To be honest with you I really don't know much about the 05 catalyst. I dont know what level of skating your at, but even if your really good or just starting out it really won't matter which one.

But if you are looking into getting a new skate, check out this site. www.integrity-wake.com

hyperlyte, if you don't mind a heavy board, i'd say got get the 05' Catalyst. the concave on the 05' feels much better under the feet than the older ones. The 03-04 Cat. is much lighter than the new one though.

I agree with Summit, check out the link he posted. You really can't get a better skate right now than an Integrity.

i dont know what i like yet because i havent got to ride my board yet. those integrity boards are quite pricey arnt they? im not looking to get the best board out there because im a rookie wakeskater so i dont think i'll be needing the top notch board. maybe i'll check out the 05 catalyst and see what one would work better for me.

In that case, I wouldn't worry about it too much then. As Summit said in his last post, it doesn't really matter which one. You are new to the sport and probably don't really have yor preferances set in stone yet....
But, if you get the chance to demo, that is your best bet for sure...that way you can figure out what you like and dont like about every board you decide to try.

K-dub, if more store owners were like you there would be less kooks selling wakeboard/skates, and giving us a bad name

hyperlyte, my advise, when ever you go into a store go in a week before you want to buy and ask for as many catalogues as you can get, and do the research, thats what the salemen are supposed to do themselves, as far as the new catalyst, it has really soft edges, meaning its going to feel slippery, some like that some dont,

as far as hypelite is concerned, I would say that for a beginner the byerly or the phriction are best, and the karma is ok, but truth fully if I recommended that to you everybody would come down on me like a ton of bricks, but in all cases with hype skates get the smallest size,

especially on the karma, b/c it's not measured by full length, so the 105 is actually a 112/113,
the other skates are pretty big too, but at least they are sized accurate,

as far as Integrity, yes they are pricey, but they are bar none the most durable,

the Kampus K-39 is a good board to progress on as well, and by far the most affordable, on the whole knowledge is you best weapon against crappy salesmen, you wouldn't buy a car or a boat with out researching the options don't do that with your boards/skates/bindings,etc.
