My friend just got a Samsung camcord that has both a memory stick for recording and tape. At our last session we filmed on the memory stick in hope to being able to transfer it to our computer so we can edit it but when we got it on the computer the video was all like choppy... it was the same when reviewing them on the camera itself... Anyone know why it does that? it looked in his manual and couldnt find anything about the subject....
Another question, is there a way to transfer the video that is on the tape into a computer??
Thanks

If you're recording directly to the memory stick it's going to be a compressed mpeg, which is not as good as quality as the tape. Basically you DON'T want to do it that way!

YES!

Your camera should have a firewire. Use that to transfer the video to the computer. Don't get the USB and firewire ports mixed up. You want the FIREWIRE output. This will bring the clips into your computer as .avi file at which point you can edit them.

We also have a rca connection for our computer. That way, even the old school cameras we can put on comp. Very Happy
