will plugging in a minidv to a power inverter mess up the battery?

I've never used one, but it shouldn't make any difference.

When I'm on the boat or in the car I use the Radio Shack Universal battery charger (w/ the cigarette lighter adapter). http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=23-399 - If you have a local Radio Shack, check out the in store price. I could've sworn I only paid around $30 for it…

I think it depends on your inverter. Some are not safe to use to charge batteries (they mess them up), but others are. See if it says in the manual.
