my battery for my sony minidv sucks. i can film (using the viewfinder) for 5-10 minutes until it dies. so, usually, i film using the a/c adapter plugged in to a power inverter. now that i have a housing for the cam, i'm gonna need a long lasting battery.
i've seen some off-brand name batteries. are they as reliable as sony brand batteries? they're cheaper (on ebay) than the sony ones, but i think i'd spend the extra dough if they're not as reliable.
thanks for the help. _________________ my demo reel

I have an extra battery from my old camcorder. It's a Sony M Series battery. 4 hours w/o viewfinder 2 hours with. Does your cam use M Series batteries? I also have a hot shoe lamp and a wide angle lens, too if you are interested. Hope you are enjoying the housing! _________________ Check out http://www.updogthemovie.com |

Joe,
It sounds like you've got a bad or wornout battery. All of the Sony's I've owned/used last for hours even when using the LCD and that includes the M series as well as the L. But to answer your question I've also used various aftermarket generic batteries over the years and have found them to be reliable and adequate. Check out Ebay as you'll find every generic brand under the sun. If you're really fighting this (or you buy that lamp! ) you could also look into a belt pack. _________________ Rich Dykmans |

DC- Yea, I sold my Sony equipment and picked up a Panasonic gs400. I've been really impressed with it so far, too. _________________ Check out http://www.updogthemovie.com |
