well I still havent moved in... mostly because it is a disaster zone!! Pretty much just been renovating flat out the last 2 months... havent got much to show for it but it's getting there.....
In the main hallway alone...Knocked out a wall and extended it 10ft, covered a doorway up, got the switchboard rewired, plastering, painting etc etc....... still lots more to do tho.
Bedrooms all replastered and painted.
Still need to carpet, finish fitting skirtings, powerpoints etc... hmmm it never ends lol. And i havent even started on the bathroom, kitchen, backyard and exterior

yeah im looking forwards to the backyard, bulldozing the whole lot and starting fresh, ...I guess sectioning grass off with cement paths was the done thing back in the 30's. _________________

Thanks man, Yeah I thought about polishing the floorboards but they are too much of a mess in some spots so just carpeting over them, will look a lot better.
Just bought $350 worth of wood to replace the front verandah _________________

lol yeah, all the walls were cracked because I redid all the foundations, got under the house with a 100 tonne hydraulic jack and cranked the house up then reset the pillars.

It was built in 1928 lol. Heres a few pics of the front, I have done a little work but a lot more to go, They replaced the original weatherboards with that crappy cement sheeting and it looks terrible, so as soon as I find an original style window to replace the ugly aluminium one in that front room ill replace all the cement sheeting with weatherboard again.
Just ripping off that tacked on sitting room has already improved the look... New verandah is next job.

My plan is to get it all looking flash in the next 6 months then sell it to make a decent profit. (To either upgrade or fund another year long trip in the US, Haven't decided yet.... )
Have only spent about $2k on renovations so far which isn't bad for the work I have done. The most expensive parts are coming up though - Kitchen and bathroom _________________

okay thought I would do a bit of an update with the reno's. So since the last post I have Built a new boundary fence (neighbours payed for it all I supplied the labour i.e. - worked my ass off for a weekend building it)
Built the front porch,
finished off plastering and painted.
Put in a new front window and weatherboards,
Repainted the whole exterior,
ripped out the old kitchen and half put the new one in.
Ripped out the bathroom and half put a new one in.
Rewired lights, downlights, bathroom heatlamps blah blah.
Bulldozed the backyard.
Built a deck... today. I'm buggered!

Just seeing the pic where you ripped the siding off, I automatically saw that tongue and groove barn wood with no insulation that they have there. You just gave me nightmares about the last house we did. Frickin 190something built on a rock foundation. I will never get in a house that old again. You sure will love it when you get done though.

yeah, im guessing you are talking about the larden plaster. It is an absolute bicth! most of it I have just sheeted straight over because it is such a pain to remove. good old 1920's huh. _________________

Finished the bugger today!!! Took 4 months longer than I had planned (partly because I have moved 2.5 hours away for a new job) Lots of frustrating moments, loss of motivation and setbacks but got it done! Have learnt plenty along the way. Definately wont be getting into another reno for a while! Only got to wakeboard 3 times this summer!
Should be going onto the market this weekend, hoping for an easy sell (as im way into the red! lol) Ill try to get some pics up... _________________
