Idea I am in need of a pretty simple/easy to make recipe for the weekend to make with all my friends. I have tried about everything I can think of and it just does not taste that well when I get finished. I would like to spend around $20. Something that we can cook/make and eat while watching the ballgames.

I will get a Wakeboarder.com Tshirt for the person who posts the recipe that I use/like. I will follow this post up with the winner!

Thanks!

Nothing beats beer battered crayfish, you cut the cray into chunks (like popcorn chicken from KFC), then make up a beer batter, roll the chunks in it and deep fry them Very Happy

Seriously, we lived on these when I visited Western Australia, where my uncle is a cray fisherman. Try these once, you will never forget them! Possibly the best TV snack/finger food ever.

Even easier than the 7 layer dip.

A couple cans of chili
some cream cheese
cheddar cheese

cook the cans of chili over a stove. Stir in some cream cheese and cheddar cheese. Stir them until they melt and add as much cheesy goodness as you want. Have a bar with mexican vegetables (olives, peppers, etc.) and serve it all with tortilla chips.

Here's a recipe for Cincinnati Chili

ingredients:

2 lb Ground beef
2 6 oz cans of Tomato paste
2 Bay leaves
1 ts Ground cinnamon
1 1/2 ts Salt
1 1/2 ts Vinegar
1 1/2 ts Ground allspice
3 c Water
1/4 ts Garlic power
1 ts Worcestershire sauce
2 ts Cumin
1 tb Chili powder
1/2 ts Crushed red pepper
preparation:
Mix ground beef and cool water until soupy. Mix in other ingredients. Simmer, uncovered 3 hours. Stir occasionally. "Makes 8 servings."

After it's finished cooking put it into a blender and blend until it's fine.

Serve it over spaghetti and top with lots of grated cheddar, onions, chili beans, and crackers, or any combination of them.

might be a little more than 20 bucks, but...

shrimp wrapped bacon

need a couple pounds of at least 20 count shrimp, and a pack of bacon.

peel shrimp, cut bacon in half and wrap around the shrimp. Use a toothpick to hold together.

Make a butter/garlic sauce - I usually adlib this. A couple of sticks of butter melted should be enough. And a shaker of Garlic Salt. And whatever other seasonings. White wine helps, too.

put the wrapped shrimp on a low fire on the grill. Constantly douse with butter sauce. Watch for flame ups.

Shrimp cooks very fast, so really when the bacon is done the shrimp is easily done.

You can use the leftover butter/garlic sauce as a dipping sauce for when they are done.

Here's one of my favorites:
In a crock pot, combine 3 sticks of real butter with 3 pints of water. Add 1/2 oz. of your finest herbs Wink . Cook in crock pot for at least three hours. Pour mixture through spagetti strainer. Leave "brew" to cool in refrigerator for a few hours. The "butter" will rise to the top and harden into a thick green block. Use this "butter" to make your favorite baked item (brownies, cookies, etc.). Always a hit at college parties! Enjoy! YUM! Very Happy

here is my own recipe of the best salad dressing I have ever eaten. Don't know if you want to try it for this but definitely try it sometime. Here goes:

1 cup miracle whip, 1/2 cub wesson oil, 1/4 cup chilli sauce, 1/4 cup ketchup, 1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce, 1/4 cup grated onion, 2 cloves garlic. Mix all together and blend. Best if served cool.

If anybody tried it, tell me what you think. People have told me its the best dressing they have ever had.

Que up some salmon. I get this salmon from costco (don't know if you have costco) pre-praportioned already in little steaks. I think it runs about 13 dollars and has about 10 steaks in it. Put the steaks in a big tray, nuke some butter and pour it over them. Sprinkle some garlic salt, lemon juice, lemmon pepper, maybe a hint of basil to your lickening (Sp?). Be sure to put a lot of spam/cooking oil on the grill or the fish will stick. About 6-8 min on each side with a medium heat and no one that I have cooked for has complained. Throw an easy bagged salad and some french bread and brews and what could be better. Hope you enjoy, now where is my T-shirt Laughing Laughing Rolling Eyes

criminally_minded, now that sounds good!

Buergday, I always wondered how that was done. Although, it is not really my type of flavor. Interesting though!

forwaken, That sounds good too!

* I will have to let some of my friends help pick out of these!-Friday will be the day.

Turk: Wait until you try them! The only problem is you can eat them all day, they are so damn good, so you will always want more Very Happy

If you make these for your guests, I GUARANTEE they will want to come over more often... (this could be a positive or a negative)

Oh yeah, another very simple one you can cook while watching the games:

Buy as much abalony as you can get for your $20.00 (or for free if you have a mate who is a diver Very Happy ), make up some garlic butter (mix crushed garlic & butter in a bowl.... duh), then roll your abalony chunks (again the size of popcorn chicken peices) in the butter and throw on the BBQ.... the smell alone will have the neighbours offering you their wives just for a sample.... Enjoy!

P.S - you don't want to over cook these, they don't take long.

Well I do want it, yep, but i'm not going to cry into my cereal if i don't get it Very Happy I sort of excluded myself from the running because I'm not in the US, and I doubt anyone could be bothered posting it here.

I just can't stop thinking about all the food I love now!! Living on an island which produces the freshest seafood in the world, I guess I'm just spoilt Wink

I was just given you a hard time, stiring up the pot. I don't want to hijak Turk's thread. The deep fried crayfish does sound really good. I am a lover of sea food. Qued oysters in the shell are killer too. Take a needle loaded with warm butter, garlic, and lemon juice and inject it into the shell before it pops so it simmers. UUMMMMMM. It sounds like you like seafood as much as I do.

Maybe I will send out two shirts. I will mail it to Australia if I pick your recipe-no problem. I live in TN about 9 hrs from the nearest beach-so abalony is hard to come by here. Actually, I have never tried it. I have seen it on some cooking shows before-it looks very tasty!

Kai, I got a feeling I might mess this thing up or making someone sick by not getting it done.
