Its not really the length, but the fact that it has too much stretch. The stretch causes a coulpe of problems. First its messes you up when you are trying to jump. It can also spring back really hard when you fall, when we first started we had a couple snap all the way back into the boat. 1 barely missed a girls head and another hit this girl in the back, while she was sitting in the observers seat.

So basically shell out the bread and get a decent no/low stretch line

I agree with noneya, but with any rope you use you should be concerned with the length. Basically a good rule of thumb is that want the rider to hit the wake just before it starts to curl over and wash out. That should be where the wake is the largest. Of course that distance will be different on every boat and will be affected by ballast and the position of people in the boat.

A typical rope length in an inboard boat is from 65' - 75'. Some go shorter, some go longer.

Thanks for the heads up. We are running an outboard but I will take a closer look at the wake this weekend. Very Happy
