| hey guys out there. i'm kind of new to wakeboarding. i've boarded since 7th and i'm in 10th but it was only like twice each summer on a trip or some thing like that. i'm sure so many people ask questions like this but...what are some good wake board brands? i only know double up, blindside, and hyperlite. |

glassywake, you could spend as much as a thousand bucks for a board and bindings. $600.00 board $400.00 bindings. But for entry level gear probably somewhere between $300.00 - $400.00 should get you rolln' pretty smooth.
Wakeskating is a little harder than wakeboarding but it's a lot of fun. I get up by holding the board under my feet until the boat starts moving and then the water pressure keeps it there. After that its jsut like getting up on a wakeboard. _________________ ......and one time at wakeboard camp. Come on people say something original. |

K-dub, and CWB... broke hitting the wake.
I call BS again. WCR, why don't you do us ALL a favor and stop posting.
Glassywake, first, check the "gear guide" on this site, then go to a good boardshop like www.boardstop.com or www.boardersparadise.com or www.wakeside.com
There is useful information on each of those sites, and www.boardstop.com has an excellent board finder on the home page. _________________

WCR, like I said before...Gator boards fall apart just like every thing else out there. They are'nt made of Titanium, just foam and fiberglass like every other D-Up, and Blindside, HL, and LF/Obrien....So my question to you is, what makes it so "indestructable"??
I have seen Gator, as well as, every other brand out there fall apart. Hell, my roomate's 05' 142 Gonzales literally exploded on a wake to wake, 2nd day on the water....
Not bashing Gator by any means here, but buliding a wakeboard is not rocket science guys....they all have thier defects, no matter what name is on it. |

K-dub, that is just my opinion and my experinces with my Gator, all different boards/models are made with differnt cores and molds so the one board i have might just have a stronger mold
i won it at a wakeboard competition and got it directly from the Gator Boards Rep

glassywake, They usually dont break easily, you can scratch them by hitting something on the dock or dropping it (not good) but usually to break them you have to ollie onto a rail or do something extremely wrong if your not hitting sliders. (like just wake riding) There are some cases where they do break just in normal riding but not regularly.
If you like LF boards, I HIGHLY recommend them. I have had a few LF set-ups and I can hardly say anything bad about them, Their boards are really light, strong (K-dub dont worry I know any real wakeboard is strong ) and they look great. They have a board for anybody and compared to many other brands they are priced great too. I got an '04 trip 133 with alphas for 400$! Thats a intermidiate/advanced board. Blindside, D-Up and Gator have some good stuff too. |

glassywake, how much do you weigh? Its also personal preference but generally speaking its something like this:
80-115 lbs. 123-128 cm board
115-150 lbs 131-134 cm board
145-180 lbs 136-139 cm board
180+ lbs 140+ (something around a 143)
Thats just an estimate, each board has different weight recommendations. |

Find some different boards\bindings in your price range and then go to different sites and look at reviews _________________ www.shadrack.com -This house is about to get freaky sleeping in! |

glassywake, You don't need to follow the lengths and weights that smlparksguy133's wrote. I weigh 135 and I ride a 136 and sometimes a 137. It's all personal preference so I would recommend trying different sizes, big and small. _________________ www.Tigeowners.com

HyperRash, It is like a sub-division of it though. The J-Star/Jobe boards and bindings are based off of Hyperlite's. They have a board with a similar shape to the Premier and I think their bindings are based off the Byerlys (With an Option2 Strap) and the Highbacks. _________________ www.Tigeowners.com
