Sitting here pouting again about it getting colder. Well that's gotten me to thinking about what I want to ask for this year for xmas...a wetsuit or a drysuit. I don't do well in cold AT ALL...and as obsessive as I am about riding I can't hang in da cold. Since both items are pretty expensive just wondering which one I would get more use out of. On one hand the dry suit would keep me warmer and would be able to go for longer....me being so cold sensitive I wonder how long I would go with a drysuit anyway. Thought maybe some of you northern souls who have one or the other or both might have some insight I'm not thinking bout.
Maybe my cold blooded booty should just move south _________________ Cause we are strictly business and we also got our pride

I'd say drysuit. I have a shorty wetsuit and I pretty much never wear it. I just go from drysuit to skins back to the drysuit. I tried the wetsuit once last week and had a hard time getting warm again, cause I was still wet so I switched to the drysuit and was HHHHAAAAPPPPPPYYYY. I have a baggy suit so I can start with one thin layer and pile them on from there. |

I've never gotten a drysuit..kinda spendy like you said, but I have a long sleeve shorty that I wear right now when I ride... my husband rides with a full, but we've never ridden past mid October, but we can start as early as April with a wetsuit... I know people in my area that ride year round (even breaking through the ice! ) wearing drysuits! _________________ "A little stoke goes a long way..." |

Not to sound stupid, but do dry suits really keep you dry in there? If so, then I'd shell out the money for one of those!! _________________ Life is a series of ups and downs, separated by no-wake signs. |

My drysuit does keep me dry 99% of the time. The only reason it's not 100% is probably because the neck seal is a little big and if I crash just right a little water will get in . My suit has latex seals which from what I have seen works better than the neoprene seals. My husband's has neoprene leg seals and they do leak so his pants end up wet up to the knees. A few friends have the suits that are snug fitting on the lower body and have neoprene seals and they also leak a little.
I got mine off of ebay for $90. It has some old school colors (purple and teal, but mostly black) but it functions like it's brand new.
Big T, I want to go on Jan 1 too, I just have to find someone else who's willing. I can probably get my husband to drive and neighbor to spot, but I want to find some one who is willing to make a run too.
Ladythump, my feet do get a little cold but I have a heater in the boat. |

Big T...I'll be there for sure Jan1 or whenever the Ice Bowl ends up but just to film you crazies out there in the water Even with a dry suit it ain't gonna happen when it's that cold...no way jose!
Ladythump...yep keep ya dry or the good ones do anyway. You can wear ya long johns or however many layers underneath to keep warm...well the baggie ones anyway. Your feet are still out and exposed. You can buy socks for them but heard it's hard to get in your bindings if you can at all with them on. I've only ridden in one once...borrowed from a buddy. It was nice tho. Yeah thinking dry suit now. Thanks for helping me think it through guys. Oh 'Santa' you getting all this? I also want wakeskate shoes, fat sacs for the boat, a rash guard or 2, tower speakers, more boardshorts, and on and on and on _________________ Cause we are strictly business and we also got our pride

Dear Santa: My request is really small... a boat somewhat newer than a '66 would be great! _________________ "A little stoke goes a long way..." |

| Wore a drysuit until Mid-April, so we got maybe 2 months of perfectly calm water with it. I'd say buy a used drysuit and a nice oneill gooru top, it would be about the price of a new drysuit or less depending on where you buy it. |

wawakechic, www.wakeboardindiana.com is having an ice bowl. They have not decided on a date but Jan 1 may be it. indywakechica, said she would film but not board. I will board if I can find a drysuit in the budget by then. Come on out, it will be fun! _________________ www.wakeboardindiana.com |

Check out ripcurl 4/3 mm. Its super thick and warm. Alot of the guys I ride with wear them and they say they like it better than their drysuits. Sometimes when they take them off the cuits are still dry inside.
The only advantage to drysuits is being able to wear warm clothes underneath. But they look like a pain in the butt and their expensive.
