| Has anyone thought about or even gone through with putting a wake plate on a malibu. Now before you go off on the idea, Im asking because I board with women who dont like the bigger wakes. Im looking at boats and like the wedge idea and ballast but the time it takes to unload ballast for the ladies would take up to much time. It would be nice to drop the wake plate and lower the wake. ok now blast away. |

Make them ride last or first. I do that with my daughter. Works perfect. _________________ Reverend Dr. Jay

| The function of the wakeplate has a lot to do with the hull shape. I'm not sure if it would work great on a Malibu or not. You could always try it. |

Jon, Thats not realy true any boat you put it on with it down will get the boat forward and flatten out the wake, but i do ride a moomba with the plate and if u have her heavy sacked the wake will still be big with it trimed down just not as big _________________ They know what is what but they dono what is what they just strut. |

aframer,
I totally agree. I didnt' make myself clear enough. The wakeplate's function is BEST when you have a hull that is designed to have a wakeplate. I'm sure you could probably put it on any boat and it would effect it, just not as good. For example, on a Supra, the hull is flat in the middle section on the back of the boat, perfect for a wakeplate. On a Nautique 210, the hull is curved at that same place and the same type of wakeplate would have a mount a different way and probably not work as well. |

| why dont you just get the wedge. We usually run a 500# sac in the back of a sunsetter lx with the wedge. My little cousin doesnt like the bigger wake so we just put the wedge up. Makes a big difference. Not sure how much of a difference it would make with alot of weight in the boat, but putting the wedge up would take a bit of the lip off so the wake doesnt boot you quite as much. |

The hard part about making girls or kids go first, is that when their second run comes around on the rotation, you don't want to have to empty the sacs again. That's why the wedge is a good idea, since it can be raised or lowered in a less than a minute. Now, if you're riding with all guys of the same level, it's usually not an issue.
And some automatic ballast system can be filled or emptied in the time it takes some to put their board on.
So you have to consider all the factors, and your riders. _________________ So, I've got that goin' for me...which is nice! |
