While we were out riding yesterday the boat seemed to be running a little strange. It seemed we had to give it more throttle to get it going. At first I thought it was an issue with the perfect pass but we turned it off and it still seemed real slugglish. It wasn't hot, good oil pressure, sounded good. We did bilge a out a little water, checked things out for a minute, tried it again, and it seemed to be ok. Could it be something with the throttle cable? Its a 96 Super Sport, so its EFI and all. It would get up to riding speed but it seemed like the throttle had to be further down than normal???

Could be that the throttle cable is slipping out of the hold down at the butterfly valve (otherwise known as the carb) Also, check and make sure that Perfect pass isn't too tight on the throttle linkage. You can do a test with PP by spinning the servo knob and loosening up the amoung of cable it's pulling it. Then turn on your PP and watch for it to wind up the cable. (all in your PP manual)
If everything is cool, then it may be with the linkage at the helm, there is an adjustment there as well.

Chris

could be something as simple as needing new plugs/a tuneup. I have a 95 Sport that ran sluggish at the beginning of this year. new plugs and it is running good as ever.

Make sure it is not going into limp mode. Does it go above 2400 RPMs? I had this problem on my '92 Sport. The computer was sending the engine into limp mode which made it run dog slow. If the computer is getting too much voltage it acts up. If it does go above 24-2500 RPMS then it's not limp mode.

may be a stupid question, but sometimes the easy things aren't taken note of. but one: did you have more weight than normal? or in a different placement? and
2: was there anything on the prop or something? sometimes something gets on the prop or the rudder, and you do not feel any vibration, just worsened handling and overall movement.
