I like em, and mailed the company to get more info, and they mailed me back an informative response quickly. Can I hear from anybody that has these installed? Can a local marine shop do the install? I'm in Ontario Canada, and can't send the boat to the US to get fit, so I'm hoping this tower is my answer to cost and usability.

thanks

I just ordered this tower. I have done lots of research for towers and the instalation of them, and this tower did not seem difficult to install and I liked what I saw and I also spoke with the owner of the company. word of advise on installing a tower from everyone I spoke with. Measure ten times and drill once. And don't trust anyone else with drilling holes in your boat except yourself because you will be more cautious.

So are you suggesting that I install the tower myself as opposed to the marine place where the boat is stored? True I would be very cautions, but I'm not the handiest guy around. Also, does the interior come out of a boat easily in order to mount the brackets. I don't think it's that hard but... I just figured that if I got the marine guy to do it, then I wouldn't have to worry about all the heart ache. I'm positive that he has never mounted a tower before, but he's been in the boat business for a long time.

Any input would be great.

thanks
b

They're not too tough to install yourself, if you're OK at that sort of thing. It's just scary drilling through the fiberglass.

If your not the handiest guy, and the marine dude has never installed one, I would do my best to find someone even remotely close to help you out or even do it for you.
The Monster towers look pretty good IMO. What type and year boat are you putting it on?

I'm putting it on a 93 Tige SLM COMP 2000. I had a really hard time trying to find a tower that didn't cost more than my trailer did to make, and that could be shipped to Canada for an affordable price. I'm excited to order the tower, just gotta save the $$.

WOW,

First I must say I'm so impressed and feel blessed that our Monster has it's very first thread on Wakeboarder.com!!! We have worked nearly round the clock since mid-last summer on this and are finally seeing it all come together. It's truly been a labor of love since everyone working on it are wakeboard addicts.

As far as intalling the Monster Tower (or any other tower) if you feel pretty handy it's not a hard project. The comment "Measure ten times and drill once" is so true. The monster can adjust to any boat we've measured (which was almost 100) and it can collapse like no other tower (fast and easy). The key is to know not only where you want to mount but also where you want it to be when layed down. It's not hard but taking the time to know how the tower will look and lay both up and down is worth the effort. Just pre-assemble it and put it through it's paces. Once you now that and have access to the underside of the deck it goes very fast.

As far as drilling through the fiberglass check out the post here at http://forums.wakeboarder.com/viewtopic.php?t=2974 for some great comments. The most important thing is to run the drill backwards, in reverse, and the hole will be neat and clean. Start with a 1/16" bit, then 1/8t", then 3/16" then 5/16" and it comes out looking perfect. If there's foam underneath it's real easy to remove but takes some time.

As far as having someone install your tower for you, just contact a person that is experienced at fiberglass repair or has been working on boats for years. Then can install a universal tower in a few hours with no problem. It's a lot easier than most the work they normally do.

Feel free to call me if I can help - Cell: 678-895-8005

Bill

Bill, Thanks so much for all of your assistance (it's Brian, the Canadian), I really must say that you guys have been top notch in customer service. Can't wait to place the order. I'll print out the install instructions from the site, and the previous thread, and talk to my marine shop. I do know a friend that has installed his, so I'm sure I can get some help if I need it.

take care.
