getting ring and finger off factory pylon

[Does anyone have any advice on getting the ring and finger off my 87 nautique. I have been told the only way is to saw it off, but I was hoping for another way. It was 4 holes that look like they may have pins or screws in them, but I can't see in there.

Get yourself a GOOD drillbit that is just bigger than the hole in the pylon. There are 2 stainless steel pins that you can drill out. After you get those 2 pins out the ring should slide straight up and out. It took me 3 Colbalt tipped drill bits to finish the job. Those pins are hard as hell and take some time to drill out.
