Not so great I know but hey first try. I shot these panning with the rider (iso 800 as well) I am asuming to do this right I need to use a wider angle, autofocus on the rider, set to manual focus, then set the center focus point in the middle of the wake and take a burst shot of the trick sequence without moving the camera. Am I right on this? What other tips or help have you got also.

thanks guys
shelby

Did you use a stitching program or just crop and place them?

Nope, you can move the camera. I'm not sure how wide an angle you used, but it doesn't have to be too wide, just wide enough that one picture overlaps a bit with the next one in the sequence. The trick is to use photoshop with layers and transparencies to blend the shots together. There's a really good article on that posted a couple times on here somewhere. If you search, I'm sure you could find it.

Something that might help with the original pictures is using lower ISO. Most of the wakeboard photographers use 100 or 200. A really good article was posted on photography as well, so you might want to read that too.

Try using the photo stitch Canon SW or photomerge in PS CS. If nothing else you need to blend the backgound exposures in better. I'm no expert but I've had the best luck with the Canon stitching SW that comes with the cam. You're right about keeping the cam on a level pan and going a bit wider. If you do it right you can get the wake to look right also. Here is an old one I did with the 10D @ 3 fps. I haven't really done many since then. Like I mentioned on the other thread 5 fps gives you a nice seq (look at yours vs the 3 fps in mine) but not quite enough for WB mag instruction type stuff.

Still pan, but go slightly wider. Also make sure you either lock the exposure, or have it on manual everything (what I do) and the pictures should be much easier to stich.

Thanks guys, I believe the manual everything will help as well as panning but wider, and I'll try the stitch progam. I'll keep you posted on how my next ones come out, I have a shoot this sunday with my local crew.

Very Happy

No doubt BIGMAC, Leif Lacey, Matt Clendenon, Nathan Strange.

These guys never cease to amaze me even though I ride with them all the time!

Nate used to be a pro, the other 2 guys should give the pro contests a try as well.
Matt is landing OA 7's and 313's, Leif does 4 mobes and every grab 5 known to man. Nathan can do any trick he sets his mind too.

Must be nice! I struggle with my 4 inverts and can only grab a backroll or a wrapped blind 3, but these guys are great to ride with anyway, they always have good advice for crappy riders like myself, plus they like me taking good pics of them.

My gallery will have a few upadated pics later this week from our ride 9-19-04. They threw down some sickness, and we got our slider out.

later
