I just started skating and am presently working on my ollie. One thing I found I was doing wrong was the timing on sliding my front foot up the board. I tried sliding it up the second I slapped down on the tail and it worked better for me.

happy skating.

it took me a while to get an ollie. just try to pop quickly and slide your front foot up in the same motion. and lean forward.

you have to get the timing down real well. if you dont have timing, you cant ollie. you have to pop down the tail really hard, and at the same time you have to slide up your front foot, and right after you pop down the tail, lift up your back foot to the height that your front foot is going to be at.
heres a gif i made to show the steps and the proper timing

umm, that IS what the ollie is. its no different if your doing it over an obstacle, or on flat ground. its the same.

the thing you have to remember is you are jumping. so as you slap the tail, jump off that back foot and suck it up hard.

basically just practice practice practice. i practiced ollies for a good 6 months before i hit the park for the first time. wanted to make sure i had it down before i tried anything. im glad i did as now i see kids who can hardly push hucking their board on rails and getting all bummed they cant do front boards. know your limit and have fun.
