I know my learning curve has slowed down a bit the last few years (I'm getting old 33) but I'm so excited I had to share.
This might not be a big deal to the 30 pro's we have on this site.... LOL.... but for the people that know me and my skill level they will know I take great pride in learning things the right way and progressing with out killing myself.
I landed my first grabbed HS FS 3 over the weekend and it felt so good. (not a slap grab a real hand on board =legit grab)
I was doing all kinds of grabbed 180's on and off Axis HS TS etc...but for the life of me couldn't get a grabbed 3. I'm mean I was doing them off the D-up and still couldn't grab them. It was getting into my brain, then I just busted a big mute 180 stuffed the handle to my a$$ and bam I landed it W2W no less.
HS Blind180 - Yes I landed wrapped and looking away from the boat on my toes. I couldn't believe it I was actually riding away from the trick wrapped with out ever looking back at the boat or passing the handle. I have been working on these off and on all summer and finally got it down with out a handle pass. This has got to be the best feeling trick to land IMO. I know this is supper GAY but I felt like a pro in a video looking back at the chase boat givn' the W side signal all cool like Ricky G would....for about 1 second then I realized I was still in NH riding on the CP....LOL....
Anyone else make some progress over the summer? _________________ PEACE

i'm still young and learning. my parents have been horriable about giving me good pulls (consistantly anyways), and they suck at double ups even when i show them how to. but i get to ride so.
learned.
ts fs 360
hs bs 180 (haven't landed in over a month becaue my parents would take me out for over a month once i learned it)
ts front roll
meathod grab (a decent one with an acctual shifty)
and i'm still close on tantrums, raleys, and hs bs 360's |

copared to last summer, i haven't progressed much. Probably due to the lack of riding. I've learned to take all my stuff a lot bigger, and i got my crow and r2r more consistent, and i got my tantrum back. I'm workingon a hoochie right now, so hopefully i'll get one new trick this summer... _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

This has been a pretty good year for just about all the guys I ride with. Personally Ive ridden about 1/4 as much this year compared to last year. I turned into a weekend/every other weekend warrior pretty much (not by choice obviously) due to a lot of things going on. Funny thing is, I've learned more this year than last...
stuff Ive learned consistently would be bs 3, hs 5, blind 180's, tootsie, batwing, moby. Ive hit some petes and a roll to blind as well. I think overall Im more satisfied with getting a lot more consistent and being able to grab a lot more stuff. And yes I have to agree with Jdogg learning to land blind was the most gratiftying thing I thing I learned on a wakeboard since I figured out a double up . _________________ http://www.wakepics.com/view_single.php?medid=16993 one of few trips i got to make to the lake this year |

I hit all my goals for this season already:
Half Cab back roll, Scarecrow, hs fs 540.
Had to re-write my goals, so here are the next ones i'm workin' on:
front roll, ts fs 5, switch hs fs 3, hs bs 5, hs mobe.
Oh ya... And grabbin' all my inverts.
Wish me luck!

I learned
W2W Toeside and Heelside
HS 180s (w2w that is), also learned surface/ollie/1 wake 180s
HS 360
HS Backroll
Every different grab I could think to do (method/stalefish/roast beef are still my favorites)
I think I did fairly well. I'm working on Tantrums now so hopefully will have that by the end of the season. My best-case plan from here I believe is
Tantrum
TS 360
Raley
Frontroll
Roll to Revert
and so on with a 540 in there, I think I can take most of those out next summer with the experience I've gained this summer. It's amazing how much better you can get with just one summer of commitance. |

I finally started grabbing BS 180's, got the R2R dialed in, HS FS 3's dialed in, TS FS 5's dialed in. That's really about it. Everything else that I already could do, I have just been trying to grab and take bigger and bigger. The main thing I have really been working on lately is putting a whole run together going big. Back to back to back to back big tricks out into the flats. Getting there, but running out of time.
Later... |

Nathan Newman, My buddy was in the same boat this year (no pun intended) he is really thinking of getting a new one.
How bad is a $350 dollar payment as long as you are guaranteed it will run every time you go to use it.
He wants to buy mine so he wont take a hit on depreciation, I keep telling him it's a Nautique it doesn't depreciate like other boats and boats don't depreciate like cars to begin with. Most people are in a fantasy world when they start thinking about payn cash for a new boat that is worth anything. _________________ PEACE

33 isn't that old. I am 36 and just started this year. While all of this doesn't sound like much, its nice to know that I still have years ahead of me and I have taken some wicked falls and my body is still holding up (however I did chip two front teeth just riding switch at a reduced speed... go figure). Everyone that I ride with say I have a very effortless look to my riding. I really tried to drill the basics rather than learn too many tricks without a solid foundation. I only wish I got into the earlier
W2W HS and TS
W2W 180 HS and TS
HS Grabs
Ollie 180s
Decent switch riding
Various surface stuff.
Off-axis 360 to face plant
Still a month or so left in the season and would like to land one invert. Think that is achievable? We'll see... |

TS 3 grabbed landing blind (started with TS 3), heel 3s solid grabbed (nose, melan, slob, etc), TS frontrolls, had toe 5s in spring (lost 'em), and on probably my last run of the season I finally ballsed it up and stuck a raley. It was the last trick I did, so I'm pretty pumped on that...
And sliders - never done them before and learned tonnes of stuff on them. By far my favorite part of wakeboarding now... |
