I just wanted to know if u r riding regular and u do a surface 180 do u have to make ur back foot go to the left to bring it to the front or can u make ur back foot go to the right so it can b in front.

I was just wondering b/c i was Bringing the left foot to the left, so i don't so a handle pass behind my back( i only do a handle pass in the front).. Is this still a surface 180??

Thanks, I know it is worded hard...

I also wanted to know is it better to do a surface 180/360 and a butterslide without the fins?? Thanks again!!

hey... ok i am not the one to be answering this but seeing as no one else has answered your question i may as well give it a shot.

That is still a surface 180 yes... it doesn't matter which way you go [he says like he knows what he's talking about] With the whole fins thing i think it depends what fins you have, or how many obviously. My new board is a LF six fin which scares the crappers out of me even coming out of the water!! But if you have relatively small fins, and maybe only 2 or 4 then i think it is better to keep them on... especially on the butterslide because you will need support coming down from the wake when you have finished spining around like you're listning to 70's funk.

Try without fins, but i think you would get better experience with using the fins, and it will make you a better rider, especially riding the hard way. If it doesn't work out for you then by all means take them off and do it some justice without them, but if you learn the hard way then you will just become better quicker. Just remember to keep your toe edge firmly out of the water... water is drinkable but not at that speed!! Good luck... tell me how it goes!! xx

jamesbillett, despite his lack of confidence in himself was pretty much correct. you can learn the surface trickes with or without your fins..but it may be easier to learn the basics of the trick without the fins and then put them back in and learn them that way so that you can do them while also riding like you normally do with normal grip on the water.

I have 2 molded in on each side and a fin in the middle on my board and I can do surface 3s, powerslides, 180s..its just about your experience level with the actual trick you are trying to land so the more you try the better you will be. and after you learn it you can stomp it over and over.

If you pass the handle you are going blindside, if you dont you are going front side but they are both 180's!
