I'm looking to buy a new digital camera. I just want to take pictures for the web mostly. I want very high detailed pictures and would like to be able to keep the shutter open for a small amount of time.
Also I know absolutely nothing about digital cameras so what are the most important things that I should look for?
I want to spend anywhere from $500 to $800, and am kind of leaning toward Canon or Nikon. Anyone have any suggestions?? |

Most prosumer cameras are good for what you are looking for.
To name a few
Olympus 8080
Sony 828 or 717 also a great IR camera
Nikon 5700 or 8700 or what ever that new 8mp ones name in
Haven't heard much praise from the Canon Pro 1.
You can pic up a 717 or 5700 for around $400 if there are any left, I don't know. |

I just bought the Konica Minolta DiMage A2 for $700 and I'm very happy with it. You will probably want a 6 or 8 mega pixel camera. cmac, go to www.cnet.com and you should be more able to buy a camera. It is all on personel preference so we wont be able to tell you much, except for what each camera can do, or if we like ours.
Heres one of my photos on my new A2. Could be better, but I had to crop it down, kept scarying them away.
