make sure you going fast enough. have a big wake. A tower or pylon. all of those help alot. If you have a fishing boat like i have... youll need alot of weight in the back. and a fat tower.

i am really new to this but have some friends that ride all the time.... well i just met them this year but have started boarding with them. before they helped me i was cutting hard and not able to get more than a couple of feet but now i relax... progressive edge and BAM huge air.

these are the tips they gave me that worked the next pull to get me higher.

1. dont cut so far out of the wake... 8 ft max
2. when you hit that 8 foot area just stand there and wait for the boat to start to pull you toward the wake.
3. when you feel the pull toward the wake bend your knees a bit along wih your elbows and bring them to your waist while starting a easy edge toward the wake.
4. as you approach the wake 4 ft or so start your harder edge while maintianing the above form.

5. do not try to jump just stand up at the top of the wake... dont slow your edge or you will stop your speed and jump off axis...

anyway hope even one thing helps

you will know when yopu get it because you will get like 4 ft+ of air. you have to find your "pop spot". lol that sounds funny. but just keep practicing. do you think when pros cant do something they just give up.... no. practice practice.

first of all speed gets you distance, and line tension gives you pop.

also a tower and pylon just add hang time

There's one last thing...

Just go all out!! You're probably backing off at the last second or not getting as much edge as you could if you really went for it. Just clear your mind and do it!

when trying to go W2W, how much weight do you put on your front leg? everytime I jump, the board is angled about 45 degrees (back down, front up). Also, I try to pull the handle to my hips but it ends up somewhere higher with my arms extended a bit...how do I fix that? thx

fergie23, You should be putting an equal amount of weight on both feet when hitting the wake. If the front of your board is angled higher then the back, it is because you are putting too much weight on your back foot. Try to even it out. As far as the handle thing, it is likely happening because you are not edging through the wake. You are flattening out just before you get there and this is likely happening because you are cutting way to far out, and getting too much speed. Try cutting only about 4 feet out. Then start your edge and hold it all the way through the wake. As you come off the top of the wake you should be pulling the handle to your leading hip and it should be as low as possible. Trust me, if you do all of this, you will still clear the wake no problem.

Good Luck!

thanks astro209, I will try exactly what you said. I do cut way out and build up a lot of speed coming into the wake. I think I build too much speed & flatten out the board sometimes too even though I'm trying to stay on edge. The pic attached shows one of my better attempts at HS W2W but board is still angled and rope looks too high...anything else? thanks! Cool

maintain your heelside cutting position till you get to the very top of the wake then just stand up(learning how to do a proper ollie will definitly help you understand how your supposed to stand up) dont jump!!!!!! your prob. not holding your edge long enough then jumping this is very bad!!

just started seriously jumping TS last couple of trips and it is coming along pretty well - can do TS jump and get a couple of ft. of air and can do TS 180. The only thing with TS is I kind of go straight up and don't get a lot of distance...but I think better form than my HS but how do I get distance to go TS W2W? Smile

Thanks WCR, I will try charging harder and holding the edge a little longer on the TS jump to get more distance...probably not ready for the TS frontroll yet Laughing

ONe other question - I see you have LF in your profile. I currently ride a HL Premier 136 but was thinking of demoing a LF board...any recommendations for my level? I heard they are lighter weight, true? Thanks!
