Hey I'm a 14 year old new wakeboarder. I've been wakeboarding for about 2 months and I'm doin pretty good I can almost clear the wake (off by about 6 inches), indy, and boardslide the wake (all with a back fin). One day I was watching The Wakeboard series on ESPN and I saw a lot of riders without fins. I was wondering at my level should I be using a fin, if not when should I start?
O yea, I ride behind a Glastron GT-150 |

you can use a fin when ever you want to. it you take off your fins then it will give you a much looser feel on the water and it will help you learn true edging. its all preference.

I say keep the fins on, helps keep traction on the water
also what kind of board do you have, if you don't have molded fins then definatly keep them on |

See, I'm a beginner too but I have yet to take off my fins. I've got a board with molded fins but it's all in your preference. Just give it a try and see what you think. Like mentioned above, it helps with your edging (or so I've heard) so you can always just put 'em back on. _________________ YYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWWWW!!!! |

| It may be good for beginners to take their fins off. It will give you a true feel as to how a board should handle. Also, start riding switch right away. It will help you progress tremendously. Once you feel comfortable edging and riding without fins, put them back on and charge it. |

With the board you have, I don't think it has molded fins, so if you take off the fin you won't have anything but the edge of the board to help you cut. Almost always when anyone takes their fins off, they have some sort of molded fins. I ride my Liquid Force Substance finless, but it has 2 small molded fins on each tip. _________________ www.krookedminds.com
