|
|
Anybody have them??? Issues, not PerfectPass. The paddle wheel on my PerfectPass Cruise has gone bad each and every summer since I have owned it! I duct tape it for long trips, as suggested by the manufacturer, but not for the short 25 minute drive to my local lake. Finally emailed PP today for support/info. Just thought I see if others have had issues.
If it matters, I have an '01 Tige 21V. PP was factor installed and works perfectly when I replace the paddle wheel. Just seems that once a summer is WAY, WAY too often!
Thanks... _________________ Sam I Am |

| Interesting.. I have not had mine over a year yet, but I just install the blanking plug for long trips. I don't do anything for the short trips to the river/lake. Do they say to use duct tape? Maybe the adhesive is messing with it? Keep the thread updated so we can see the outcome of your discussion with PP.. |

Except for PP, the boat's been great. Still going to Orchard. Not much this Summer, though. Had a few home projects that had to be done. Can you say new roof? That ate up three weekends. May try and get out this week. Weather's sucked here, as you know. _________________ Sam I Am |

| What's the reason for taping the paddle wheel? Is it spinning while on the freeway, and being damaged as a result? |

Hmmmm
I have the Faria Pilot I on my boat (which uses a paddle wheel too)
They don't say to do anything to the paddle wheel for road trips, long or short
As far as I know, I've not had any problems (but am planning on yanking it out ove the winter, and putting in PP DigitalPro |

A buddy of mine had to replace the wheel on his san this summer.
Apparently, the ramp we have been using is too shallow and the paddle wheel was hitting the trailer.
pp suggested swapping out the wheel with the plug before putting the boat on the trailer (takes 30 seconds). |

| My understanding of why you are supposed to plug it on long trips is in case a rock or road debris hits the paddle wheel and damages it. I don't think most people do anything with it. I know mine takes more than 30 seconds to switch in and out. Only because of its location and trying to reach into the engine compartment. |

I noticed that my boat drips quite a bit of water out of the paddle wheel.... |

| Do you ride in water with a bunch of floating junk? Do your trailer bunk ever hit the paddles? Maybe glue from the duct tape? Is the paddle wheel parallel with the boat? How do you know it's your paddle wheel? Just thought I would throw in some possibilities. Good luck! |

| i've always taken it out for long trips, ppass recommends it as to not wear down the spindle on the paddlewheel prematurely. |

Well...here's the deal, so far. PP says they have had VERY few issues with the paddle wheel. I can get a new one wholesale for $75. No ideas why I am having so many issues. Hey, but it gets better. Air Mar, the maker of the wheel, no longer makes it in the size I have. The new ones are a 2" dia. PP says I will have to enlarge the hole in the boat to accomodate the new one!!! Thanks for f'ing nothing! What a pain. Enlarging an existing hole, with no pilot, is a PITA. Very hard to get a clean cut the second time with a hole saw. Just venting..... _________________ Sam I Am |

Sorry to hear that -
I would consider leaving the defective paddle wheel where it is, and putting in a second paddle wheel elsewhere
Maybe you just have it in a bad spot?
Good luck |

Draw the a circle around the old hole with the new hole diameter and use a roto-zip. _________________ SLIP IT ON AND RIDE IT! |

I think my paddle wheel is going bad, but I have had it for like 3-4 years with absolutely no problems. I also have same problem that my paddle wheel hole is 1-3/4 and new hole needs to be 2"
PP told me to cut a whole in separate piece of wood with the 1-3/4 hole saw, then put that circular piece of wood in existing 1-3/4 hole in bottom of boat. Now you can stick drill in middle and drill new 2" hole. That made sense to me. Have not done it yet. _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |
