You should be able to pick up a Avalanche almost anywhere in the 40's depending on how it is equipped. The 05 Centurions have raised there upholstery quality
and added some new options to dress the boats up even more. They are a solid quality product that has improved a great deal over the last 4 years! Find a dealer and go for a demo ride in all 3 boats compare the dealers, boats, wakes, and price make sure your compare prices of comparably equipped boats. I think you will NOT be disappointed in the Centurions. IMHO

You're all over the place man. The VLX is Bu's more wakeboarding specific boat-less room than the LSV which is more of a Wakeboarding/family cruising boat. The Avalanche is a price point boat and then all of the sudden you hop up to the 75k (new) X-Star.

You've been registered here longer than me so I would think you would know that this is kinda a stupid thing to ask without telling us the size of your crew, your skill level, your BUDGET!!! and other varying needs... Rolling Eyes

Not to mention your sig says an X-Star would be one of the nicest things to have. You obviously like the X-Star. Go buy that boat. Rolling Eyes

Bruky, yea i guess i shoulda been more specific, but notice how i said 99-03 x-stars not new x-stars, and i saw a good x-star for 30k, and the wakesetters and avalanches can be used.

Budget=<30,000
Avg. People=3-7
Skill=Intermediate but not afraid of a big wake ( I LOVED riding an X-9 w/factory ballast=1500 Twisted Evil (that could be another boat option...)
D-drive or V-drive (kinda leaning toward V)
OTHER NEEDS(bruky Laughing )=TOWER SPEAKERS

Uhm, yeah, good luck finding an 03, or even 02 X-Star for under 30 grand. Same with a 03+ VLX or any LSV. I think if you are looking into a new boat, your choices are pretty limited. The newest I think you are gonna get is a ~year old Mobius LSV or a one-two year old Sanger V-210. If you want a VLX, you're going to have to be looking for 00's, 01's and maybe a very used 02. You may be able to find a 99 or 00 or if you're lucky an 01 with some higher hours on it.

I've never been a fan of Centurion, sorry, so I'm not gonna recommend one.

If you think an X-9 with factory ballast makes a big wake, you're going to get a mo-effin' big a$$ wake up call once you ride behind a V with some weight in it.

Have you looked into other companies like Calabria, Nautique, Tige, or Sanger. I prefer all of these boats far more than Centurion as far as build quality and wakes go. What kind of wake are you looking for? In an older Calabria Pro-V, you may be able to pick up an 00/01 for around 30k, you will get oodles and oodles of room, great build quality, and a very wide, rampy wake. The beam on the Pro-V reaches a bit over 100" (I believe 103" but don't quote me on that). You can pick up a mid-90's Nautique Super Sport in the low-mid 20k's. This vector drive uses a near-identical hull to the new Super Air's that produces a narrower, more vert wake that will boot you straight up. You sacrifice a little room as with the new Super Air's which is one of the only downsides to these boats. You can pick up a '00 SAN for around 30k if you look around and do some research. An 01 will probably run you a little more, running a little more towards 40k, in the high 30's in decent condition and a fair amount of hours. Tige has the new Switch-V that will run you about 35 equipped nicely. The Switch is essentially a hot-rodded 22V. No comments on the wake as I have not ridden behind one. Sanger's V-210 will run you about 35k new nicely equipped. You can pick up an 03 for about 30k used. With some weight these boats really shine and create massive wakes comparable to a lightly weighted SAN.

If you have your goal set on an LSV Bu, you may be able to find an 02 in the high 30's, low 40's. These boats are massive ("Big Pigs" as one wakeboarder.com member stated). Their wakes are fairly wide, and super rampy even with the wedge and stock ballast. I am going riding behind one all day tomorrow-very decent boat, and only gets better with more people Laughing

Hope you find a nice boat and I TOTALLY recommend NVS as far as tower speakers go. Best performing tower speakers out there. Super clear and loud as #@$%.

Bruky, thanks for the advice.
U said that i couldnt get an 02-03 malibu or MC and thats fine 99-01 is great.

About riding the X-9, u said I would get a big mo-effin wake up call behind a weighted V. I accidentally put = instad of +. it was factory + 1500. I have ridden a weighted V-drive MC and in my opinion the wakes were about the same.

About the nautiques. Dont really like their wake transitions. I generally like narrowish medium wake width. The only nautiques i like are SANLE/SANTE but theyre too xpensive. Dont know much about sangers. Dont like Tiges cuz theyre sorta cross overs and just plain dont like them in general.

Like calabrias but a little expensive I thought (until Calabria Mans). Love MB sports B52 VX2 but they arent old enough yet to get reasonably priced.

Does NVS stand for something or is that the real name (the tower speakers.)

krbaugh, Sue me, I was half asleep when I wrote this post... Rolling Eyes

Calabria man, what trim/year is that? Looks really nice!

He mentioned a mid-90's Nautique Super Sport because it's the same hull as the present day Super Air Nautiuqe. It's a v-drive, and with some weight, will throw the exact wake as a Super Air.

For $30k, here are my recommendations.

1997-1999 - Nautique Super Sport
2000 - Super Air Nautique
1999-2001 - Malibu VLX
1996-2000 - Malibu Sunsetter VLX
2000 - X-star

krbaugh, why don't you give him some reviews on different boats, or at least correct me where I am incorrect. Unless you are going to correct me on wake descriptions, it would be a good idea to step away because you're a Canadian, and I'll let you in on a small secret...you have a different currency and very limited riding season=less time on different boats. Keep on yankin', you'll get that stick outa your ass sometime.

Sorry I was having a little fun

As you can see you have gotten all kinds of advice. Mine is better no mine is
better even if you did not ask.......

All 3 are quality products. You need to decide which wake you like so.

It all boils down to 3 things

Demo, compare, decide

smlparksquy,

They are all good boats. We have a 04 Avalanche and love it. The wake is great and everyone who rides it loves it. We pulled a tournament with it and all the riders loved it. Several said that it had the best wake they have ridden. Check out all three and the dealers as well. I am 36 and work very hard for my money. I find it hard to take advice from a teenager who cannot even offer an opioion unless they are cursing and slamming every other boat except theirs. Mine is loaded with everything except hearter, shower, and sideswipe and it came in in the 40's. Good luck.

ef3529, it's just stupid and pointless to say what others think of your boat. I'm sure he's not going to buy it because you or any of your friends or people you have towed think about the wake. I'm sure he also doesn't care how hard you work for your money. I've ridden behind more boats than most of the people on these forums, and I am stating facts about what I have seen and experienced. When have I slammed/cursed at someone's boat here? You just got your panties in a wad because I didn't recommend Centurions because I don't like them. You even mentioned your age, 36, so an opinionated little teenager really shouldn't have the power over you to ruin your day. I find it hard to take advice from a 36 year old who can't spell "heater", as well.

Bruky,
That s funny because all I hear you say is what you think about everyone elses boat. It is usually VERY tasteless and rude. The only point I was making is when taking advice from people who have bought these boats the ones who have had to work and earn the money for them have usually done their homework. Not all but most. I also have been behind every boat except Sanger and Supreme. Anyway this is not about Bruky. Goodluck on the decision. I think out of the three the Avalanche has the best ride and boat construction. The Malibu has the interior, and the XStar has the name. All three have good wakes. It is a tough decision. Good luck.

1) 04 Wakesetter Xti
2) 00-01 X-star
3) Centurion Avalanche

Avalanche is a good boat, but if you want something that is going to last, you should go with the Malibu. I wouldn't recommend a Tige or a Sanger unless you like cheesy/cheap looking racks, poor hardware and interior integrity, and breaking down in the middle of the lake.

The 04 wakesetter VLX is so dreamy. I don't think you can get the 8.0 liter in older models, but if you have the option, I would definetely recommend the bigger engine.

FYI - as far as price point, I sold my 99 malibu Wakesetter VLX with 450 hours and in excellent shape inside and out for 27K. It's still a sweet boat - that's within your budget.

How come you only want an lsv or vlx malibu. I have an xti 2002 and it is awesome. i have factory ballasts, a 1000 lbs ballast in the back and the wedge and it is awesome. I love how the wrap around seating gives you so much room. Also vlx and xti have a different hull from lsv because it isnt a true wakeboard boat because it is a family/cruiser boat moreso than a plain out big a$$ wakeboarding boat such as mine. Just ride behind all of them and trust me u will see a difference..

ef3529, are you serious? Best wake and centurion in the same sentence? No the Malibu Wakesetter VLX will DOMINATE the avalanche, and as much as I dont like MC they are better too. Centurion is flashy and low priced, I know some people who have had 2 centurions, first one wouldn't run when the boat was under half of a tank, second one the swim platform has already fallen off and the wake is nowhere near that of the VLX or X series. My parents own a SANLE so Im not partial to anyboat here but I know the VLX is the best outta the choices, I've ridden it and thats the smoothest wake outta the choices.

Authentic 04
I am not going to get into boat war I was just offering my opinion. You can also search the threads and find several stories about Malibu and MC. Like the pictures of the transom ripped out by the wedge hitting something on a couple of different boats and several with the problems that people have had with the MC's. It also sounds like you have never been on Avalanche or ridden behind one. I agree that the 90 models had issues but the I would put my 04 Avalanche up against any of the other two. SAN was not even on the list. It is a great boat but just too small for us. Also ours came from the North Carolina plant. I know that a few of the venders are different from the west coast. Again, just an opinion. Smlparksguy, good luck with the XTI. It is a nice boat.

It does get old when the bashers start. Most have never been behind a current Centurion or any other brand they have chosen to bash. Ya gotta love the hey I know some people that......this other guy.... Rolling Eyes

Tonight I took some people for a ride in my Cyclone the guy was loving the wake and boat! They had also been told some really strange and totally wrong things from some Centurion basher types. Mad Needless to say Centurions are now on there short list. Very Happy
