Hey guys, this morning I tried my first backroll...then I tried again, and again, and again. I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong here so if anyone could help that would be great. I've attached a video so you guys can watch and let me know what I need to do, and what I'm doing wrong. Thanks!

well to keep this short as possible, that is not a backroll. It's a mexiroll.

1. Your starting distance is different about every time. Try starting out about 15 everytime. If you start too far out, you rotate too fast and don't get enough pop.

2. Try building a more progressive edge into the wake. at about 15 feet with a prog. edge, you will have enough speed for good rotation but also more pop.

If you want to do a backroll just look over your left shoulder and your body will follow.

So I'm doing the mexiroll right? Just not getting enough pop? I didn't know if I needed more height or if I needed to spin faster or slower. What is easier...a mexirol or backroll? The last part of the video I tried to look over my left shoulder and I ate it real hard, after that I never tried to look over my left shoulder again lol.

I don't know which is easier. I suppose it is just a matter of what is more natural to you. I think you just need a little more airtime b/c your rotation speed is ok. With more air you will have more time to spot your landing. And with more time you will be able to add variations such as spins or grabs.

Well you might have landed the second to last one if the driver wasn't making a slight bend on you....

Not bad for not having a wake to work with...

You are not keeping the handle in close to the hips. other than that you need to make your approach consistent so you are dealing with the same variables going into the wake. like kswiss, said.

Yeah my wake is small. I always think that if I can get good on this little wake then when I get a good boat in 1 or 2 years I'll be able to fly.

I'm curious as to how my take off is. Am I trying to spin too soon or does that part of it seem ok? I feel like I'm getting a nice pop but I'm not sure if I'm trying to flip too soon and losing some of it.
