OK everybody always asks about what tower to buy. I want to know which towers to stay away from. Does anyone have a tower that really bites? Anybody ever buy a tower that was so bad they had to replace it with a better one? Anyone have a tower thats worse than an extended pylon? I'm gonna step up to a tower this year, cant afford 1500+, I have heard that the universals arent that solid, but I'm using a pylon now and I dont think that even a cut-rate tower would be worse than the extended-pylon.

I had a wakedesigns tower on my old boat and that thing rattled like crazy and was a pain to put together. It came factory installed and was just unable to fold down a be put back up w/o having a to diassemble the back legs. The racks that came with it sucked as well they stripped (spun around) within a month. This was one of their first towers to their defense, but i haven't heard anything from anyone abou their lattest stuff. If it's anything like the previous STAY AWAY. My 2cents

I'd stay away from Pro-Flight, unless you want a tower that'll break.....

We also have a Wake Designs tower. Unlike the previous post, ours doesn't rattle.

Raising the tower is a bit tricky. There are 8 Allen bolts to seat into place. Lowering the tower is also a little bit awkward. It's necessary to lay a rag on the windshield about 1/3 in from the port side to keep the tower's support arm from scraping the glass. I figure 10 minutes to raise, and 10 to lower the tower each time. With a little practice I could do it without any assistance. Trust me, at the end of a long day at the lake, there is no assistance. As soon as the boat trailer hits the driveway everybody disappears from sight!!!!!!!!!
