Thanks to everyone who explained to me how to get my son started on wakeboarding. He is only 5, but I put him on the board with me and he loved it. I was worried that he would be too scared! The hardest thing was figuring out how to get up on the board with him. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be! _________________ Jet Noise, the Sound of Freedom! |

Two of you on one board.... That had to be a feat in it's self!!!
When he's ready to ride by himself, try to get him on a short rope, and off a tower or extended pylon
the angle really helps the lil' ones when they first start
congrats |

No we didn't crash. We boarded for about 10 minutes or so and pretty much just stayed inside the wake. I did cross it a couple times, but I had to hold onto him to make sure his feet didn't slip off when we hit little bumps. When we were done, I just let go. I wanted to make sure his first boarding experience was a good one! _________________ Jet Noise, the Sound of Freedom! |

that's awesome. i did the same thing with my friend's 4 year old son. to get up, i just had him right in between my legs with his feet on the board and he was holding onto the handle in between my hands. i had to make sure i got up quick b/c he started getting a lot of water in the face. once we were on top of the water i let go with one hand and grabbed him with the other hand to make sure that his feet were on the board. he LOVED every second of it. it was also one of the most fun things i've ever done on a wakeboard. |

it helps more than anybody can think of,...the angle it is coming from instead of pulling your son through the water it is pulling him out of the water |

My son stood on the board then grabbed my leg with one hand and held his nose with the other hand. I told him to close his eyes until he didn't feel water on his face. I just crouched as low as possible and got pulled up like usual. Once we got out of the water I had to let go with one hand and pick him up by the life jacket to get him to stand up straight. I can't wait to do it again! _________________ Jet Noise, the Sound of Freedom! |

Here's a pic of me and my little girl (7 almost . Same thing. Put her between my knees and told her to wrap her arms back around my legs. Had to "surf" up and out. I couldn't "pop" out like my normal start. When we got up, she had a hold of the rope, so we stayed that way.
I had to bribe her 5 bucks to try it. Now she wants to go every time. |

| There's no place like it. Bear Lake. Northern Utah. They call it the Carribbean of the Rockies because of the color of the water. It is TOUGH to find butter though. Huge lake and always a breeze...20 miles long and 5 to 8 miles wide. A big oval with no protected coves...but dang is it purdy. |

Sweet, that is so cool that it worked for you too. I have now boarded with Billy about 5 times now. Every time a different friend goes out boating with us they want to see it. Too bad it is nearing the end of the season. I will undoubtedly buy him a board this winter and get him up on his own this spring. Block, I have been to Bear Lake. I actually went to high school in SLC and college at the Univ of Utah. I am now in Norht Carolina. The lakes here aren't as busy or cold as Bear Lake!!!! _________________ Jet Noise, the Sound of Freedom! |

I graduated from UofU as well. Live in Logan area now.
We like to go to Willard Bay. It is so low this year nobody will go in but a few of us crazies. You have to know how to navigate in there in low water. I've donated 3 props to the lake learning where to go. Warmer water, closer. Not nearly as pretty but usually butter on the weekday nights. This was my friend a few weeks ago. Man, that was a good night. |

Amen to starting them young.
My little guy started last year behind my buddy's X Star. At five, the kids are so light they just pop right up.
This was day #2. |

It's awesome to see kids that young. Especially when they are ripping. Here is my 6 year old cousin. He's trying a HSBS 360 in the pic. Even though it's not very close and the handle is way out of his hand, watching a 6 year old try 3's is awesome. _________________ www.Tigeowners.com

Question:
How do you keep their feet on the board while getting up and while boarding?
I figured it would have been too slippery to try but knowing you guys have done it.... thumbs up!
I put grip tape between my bindings on my snowboard so my sons snowboots wouldn't slip. |
