I'M PUTTING IN A SYSTEM ON MY 93 SKI NAUTIQUE. SINCE IT DID NOT COME WITH ONE, WHAT TYPE OF ANTENNA SHOULD I USE? I DONT WANT A GOOFY ASS CAR ANTENNA HUNG ON MY BOAT. ANYONE GOT ANY IDEA'S? Use the windshield. Seriously, it offers great reception, and you don't have to add any ugly additions to your boat. Just get a length of coax cable long enough to reach the closest windshield bolt, strip off the insulation and connect the center to the bolt. Be careful that the outer braid doesn't touch the center or the bolt at all and you're set.
I did the same as skicrave and it worked awesome. Another thing I have heard people doing is hooking it up to their tower support brackets. But I can tell you the windshield idea works.
