|
|
| So this past sunday I fell hard and sprainned my ankle. I did come out of my binding. My first thought was that I broke my ankle it hurt so bad. So I wondered if I stayed in my binding would I have boke it or could have I avoided any injury. |

| I think it's best to stay in your binding when wrecking. Then you have two feet offering support / rigidness, where when only one is in, it's easier to twist on the one that's in |

| I disagree that it is better to stay all the way in your bindings. This last saturday I took a normall fall and broke my ankle because my foot did not come out. I would have loved my foot to come out. I have fallen very hard and my foot has never popped out of my binding. Just make sure that you have either thumb screws or clamps because the screws that the Alpha's come with are flat heads and require a screw driver to take them off the board. it really sucks to have to lay in the water and try to pull you broken ankle out of a binding. |

| the worst...IMOP...is one foot in, one foot out. that's a real quick way to tear up a knee or ankle |

| Definately the worst is 1 in 1 out. I have injured my ankle from my foot being stripped from the binding. I personally would rather stay in. My legs have never been hurt from staying in. |

definatly stay in, but a lot depends on the fall
I would like to stay in because if one comes out, my leg will get twisted. OR i will scorpion and get nailed in the head. If both come out, it hurts to get them ripped off when they are fully tight, plus you have to put them back on, and when you come back up to the surface sometimes a roller brings the board right back into your face
my vote goes to keep the feet in! |

| I always slip out when i fall. I think this is a pretty good way to go though. You don't have support if you mess up your ankle but you will be less likely to mess up your ankle |

I have only heard of/ sustained injuries related to coming half-way out or actually all the way out...
I have never heard of an injury from a fall while staying in (knees, ankles etc)... I would be curious to find out what injuries people have had BECAUSE THEY STAYED COMPLETELY IN thier bindings... lets here em!
jeffh, describe HOW you busted the ankle on a hard fall _________________ out. |

while in the air and you feel it slip off, let go of the rope and push whatever end of the board away using your other foot...happened to me on a scarecrow over the weekend and it didn't hurt at all....if that makes any sense try it |

| it doesnt matter whether you have your bindings super tight so you stay in no matter what or loose so you come out easy you just want it to be one or the other. whatever you are more comfortable with. just bas long as it wont get caught halfway and both bindings are about equal. |

Pope: It wasn't even a hard fall. Last saturday the boat was empty excempt for my parents and I, so I trying to do stuff a little harder than I was before. I went into the wake heelside and did my first w2w jump. I was feeling really good at that point so I tried to do a 1 wake toeside jump (which I had never done before) when I came up the wake I got no air at all and the side of the board caught in the water, I corrected this but while f ixing the current problem the front edge caught the wake and I fell. I turned the board so the I would not faceplant but when I hit my back leg and the bord ket spinning around my front leg and broke my leg/ankle immediatly. The part that hurt the most was getting my foot out of the binding (Liquid Force Alpha's). The Alpha's are usually very easy to get out of but my ankle was twice the normal size.
I wet f or the second time to the medical clinc yesturday to get the real cast put on but the swelling hasn't gone down yet s o I have to have a splint on for another week. I figured it out and if this one week counts towards the six weeks that i have to have the cast on, I can take the cast off 1 day before I leave for surf expo. So I really am hoping that it counts. |

One in one outs hurt the worst.
This is sort of irrelivant but, when I was skiing a bit back , I fell and only one binding popped out, causing the other to twist while I rolled down the hill. This completely broke my leg clean at the top of the boot.
This proves one in and out can definitly mess you up more. |

either both all the way in or both out...the worst falls are with one or the other out, or half out. PAINPAINPAIN _________________ Keep Austin Weird |
