Need help: Board selection

I plan on buying a board but im on a tight budget.

I have found some deals on packages and i would like to here your comments and help me choose which to get:

I am 5'7, 145lbs, beginner:

1) O'brien Custom 135 w/ device

or

2) LF Rhythm 134 w/ super suctions

if anyone can recommend anything within this <$250 price range, please feel free to...

have you demoed? you should really demo. If there's a shop near you that does demos, then demo. Really, demo.

I'm not a LF fan, but lot's of people here have nothing but good to say about them.
Obrien is a good company, but you can get a better model than the custom in a complete package for less thatn 250. Check http://the-house.com they have the 2003 Obrien Cobe 137 with bindings for 249.

also ebay is a good place to shop for completes.

But really, demo.
