I am now riding behind a crownline with no tower or pylon, so it is hard for me to catch big air. Up until recently i have been basically clearing the wake. But then i got into slaloming and since then i hve been crashin on all of my jumps. im just wondering if the different foot placement on the slalom is actually making a difference in my abilities.[/quote] _________________ "Im not alone cuz the tv's on"

Are you talking about different wakeboard stance or slalom ski? or are you saying that being in a slalom stance messes up you ability to wakeboard? |

| if you are saying that slaloming messes your wake jumps I don't think it makes a difference. I seen someone slaloming then going w2w on a wakeskate and wakeboard. |

| well generally wakeboard stances are relatively wide and ducked out but that is all personal preference. How are you messing up? you need to explain better than that. |

| You are probably not holding your edge through the wake or not keeping the handle close to your hips off take off. |

SHSjAgs08,
Slaloming will only help your wakeboardin'.
It'll help balance, edging, strength and whatnot...
You may find the transition awkward at first, but in the long run, it will only help.
Enjoy your time on the water, whatever board you are on!

I stoped wakeboarding for last summer because I just felt like slaloming instead. When I picked up wakeboarding hard core agin this year because I missed it I had some difficulties at first. It tooka little while to go sideways angain and I think that that is the problem. I suggest you just practice a little surfing the wake and release with one hand for a little while. This will get you back to sideways and back to where you were. Do both everytime you go out as well. _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects

I agree whole-heartedly. I slalom on a KD Evolution and it is one of the most unforgiving skis for poor technique I have ever seen. Prior to skiing on this, my wakeboarding just flat out stunk. As I began to refine my technique and rip through the course, I pulled a muscle in my left elbow, taking me out of slalom skiing for a few weeks. I decided to start wakeboarding again in the meantime and found that on my first time up I was doing lip slides without fail and my cuts were awesome, easily netting me air and landings previously unheard of. My record now on a lip slide is 25 yards and I am easily landing my jumps with reasonble finesse. Reality is, if you are skiing on a good quality competition slalom ski IMHO, you will become a better wakeboarder courtesy of the slalom skis lack of forgiveness for poor technique. You can learn good technique without it, but I truly don't believe it is the reason you are suffering. Odds are you have hit some sort of block that you must overcome. But keep in mind that this is my opinion based on my experiences. Just for the sake of knowing, I hit the slalom ski for the first time in 3 weeks today and didn't miss a beat. I can honestly say that my wakeboarding improved as a result and my slalom skiing didn't suffer. |

Slalom skiing has lots of upper body movement and your knees act like shock absorbers.
With wakeboarding try to keep your upper body quiet and legs stiff popping off the wake. |
