|
|
| I have decide it is time for me to upgrade my boat (now I need to convince the wife also) and I am looking at an '04 Ski Supreme V220SP. I have searched the forum, but wanted to get some updated opinions on this boat. Ski Supreme is not a big name in the East, but what I have read about them so far sounds good. Any thoughts on this particular boat?

I don't have a whole lot of experience with this boat, but I just rode behind one. Wake was clean and solid although not too too big with just the factory ballast.
Felt real big inside, I think there is a lot more freeboard than other boats?
Definitely seemed like you could throw a TON of weight in it without a problem.
It had a very solid ride thru chop and handled better than I thought it would.
Price was not bad... Low 30's with wakeboard options and tandem trailer.

wakeskier, The price is definetly attractive for what you get. But it does seem like it is going to need a fair amount of additional weight to put out a good wake. Although with stock ballast it is probably better than what I am getting with my current I/O. How does the fit and finish seem? My other biggest problem is that the dealer is 3 hours away. I Want to get out there to take a look, but I also don't want to waste my time. So far it sounds like I need to make the trip to see this boat up close.

I just recently bought a 2004 Sky Supreme 208
I can't compare the 208 to the 220 (never been behind a 220)
But I'm very happy with my 208, and will speak to Supreme's quality
They're a local manufacturer for me, they're only 30 miles from where I live

Yeah, it does seem like it will need a lot of weight, but on the plus side I bet you could put insane amounts of weight in the boat and build the wake as big as you wanted.
To be fair, when I tried it out, it was just stock ballast and a driver... So get a few people out it should be even better.
I found the lip of the wake to be surprisingly solid and gave you a nice kick.
As for fit and finish, I'd say it was about average, nothing special, but nice enough. Seemed like it was built pretty solid, but really hard to say only being out in it for a short period of time.
Like you said, the price makes it very tempting.
I'd like to hear some opinions from owners

we are buying one in september. Good looking solid boat. i guess the only reson they are cheaper than MC and CC is cos they are less established.

all the boat reviews I have read are awesome. One of the best wakes in the market. I tried to find one in the midwest but had no luck.

I have an 04 V220... I have the following...
TWO - 350lbs in the bow
ONE - 600lb under bow filler cushion
TWO - 350lbs in rear storage lockers
TWO - 350lbs factory in the rear
full tank of gas
8 people
Wake is big and clean... perfect ramp with 45% in front 55% in the back.
very vert but still clean with 40% in the front and 70% in the back...
great wakeboard wake... great wakesurf wake...
handles well with and without weight...
and yes... IT IS DEEP AND HAS HIGH FREEBOARD!
6.2L plaine nicely... and rpms around the 2900 for 22mph...
the 5.7L will need 50% weight distribution to get nice plane....

Does anyone know why Supreme went from the molded in swim platform on their late 90's models to the wooden platforms of today's models? Advantages? Disadvantages?
Thanks!

The platform on my 03 came covered in the bedliner material. Its the only Supreme that I have seen like this. The main blue stripe is also wider than any other Supreme I have seen, and does not match the color design in their catalogs. I think it looks better like this, but am wondering why its not the same pattern.

here are some wake pics from today... 5 peeps... too much weight in the back... needed some more in the front and it was a windy day... 21mph and 75 foot rope.... wake curls at about 85-90ft.... at that speed... pick it up a notch and she is clean all the way back....
ps... did my first three on the wakesurf board... it was a good day for surfing... too much wind and boat chop for wakeboarding...

| MadDog, the pics were taken with approx the same weight as described... water was ugly though so it was tough to get a nice pic... i want to get one with calm water and a rider next to the wake so you can get an idea... will try again this weekend...

Do you notice much difference with the trim tab on the 208? I was thinking about dual tabs on my 220 to help with balancing the boat, and a better ride in the chop.

I rode and drove an '02 Sky Supreme (don't know the model #) when in Cali. It was a DD and I thought the boat seemed to be a pretty good value for the money. Just the factory tank filled in the back and it actually threw a pretty nice wake considering. Certainly big enough to have fun on. Handled good, fit and finish was fine, seemed pretty nice. Good Luck.
