|
|
| I was curious how you all weight your Nautique 2001s. I'm looking into getting a fat seat for the back and probably a 500 lb bag for the storage locker. How much weight should I put in the back? Also does this cause mych damage to the engine? Thanks. |

Not sure about weight placement since I don't have a Nautique but it shouldn't hurt your engine.

| I have an 86' nautique and i was thinking about doing the same thing, except not completly filling the fat seat and only putting 250 lbs of sand behind the front seat. |

Weighting the 2001 is easy. We have one fat sack in the back and one side buddy or whatever theyre called up in front under the bow.
I have a maroon 86 2001 and my best friend has a blue one so we split the cost of a pair of side sacs and he has the same set up in his boat. One fat sac in back, one side buddy up front.
And it kicks ASS.
And there is no worries about damage to the engine from weighting. If you used the boat for its original intention - fast speed slaloming, youd still be doing less damage with a weighted hull. The only thing I'd really reccomend doing sooner than later is a tower, or at least cut the height of your extended pylon down. The heigh of the pylon, combined with the leverage force of a strong person at the end of the line, caused me to stuff my pants on several occasions watching the baseboard flex and listening to what I swore was metal audibly weakening. The tower is the BEST thing to do for a quick renewal of the love affari with your 2001.

I have an 85. I'm running 2 large sacs on the side of the motor, one large in the back, and a side sack in the nose. _________________ Kaben |

But you must be left with like NO room to move around the boat. We've tried this set up. Great wake. Horrible logistically. We settled for my setup I described above.

We have a 1982 S.N., model 2001.
First we tried two side sacks and loading the boat with as many people as possible. That definitely improved the wake.
Now I've ordered a launch seat. I'm also going to have a sack made for the bow area. I really don't see any way of setting one of the side sacks up there and getting it properly balanced. Also a guy at the boat shop cautioned me that if we have a front-end collision the momentum could cause a loose side-sack in the bow to roll and do additional front-end damage to the boat. There's a local guy who custom builds them to the shape of the bow.
Of course we won't know how well it all works out until we get to the lake. |

I have a 87 nautiqe, i usually throw in 2 big BG sacs (700) in the back. The wake has a good shape and is a decent size. _________________ Nautiqes |
