The best tip I can think of is dont square up to the wake until the last second. This gives you a better pop and the rotation comes naturally.

i think im at the same stage as shibe256. i dont know whether to actually try to flip or try to jump. so your saying that you have to square up to the wake, stand tall, and the flip will be automatic? or do you square up to the wake stand tall and then throw the flip? does the wake actually flip you or do you have to actually try to flip? ive only tried one tantrum and i kinda know what i did wrong. i didnt straighten my legs and let the wake trip me i just flipped and got no air at all and landed on my nose and bagged myself.....that why im so curious so this doesnt happen again |

This trip motion seems like it would just make me back plant into the water? _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects

peca, How in god's name did you over rotate a tantrum enough to smack your balls on the water? Surely an over-rotated tantrum will result on you landing on your back. To over-rotate to your balls would be 1 and 3/4 rotation - I would call that an under rotated double tantrum! Now that would rock!!!!!!!!!

Rocket, i guess it could be put like that. lol. but i don't think i would want to try that again until i can get alot more air. or maybe off a double up. the pain from tthat was too much to ever try that again anytime soon. I'm going riding today, i''ll post some videos and pics of tantrums and riding. _________________ Jon

So with the triping motion does the wake catch the back of your board or do you ride up the wake paralelle to the wake on the toeside edge and it pushes that up? _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects

you want to stay on your heelside edge to build up speed to clear the wake. When you get to about the bottom of the wake you wanna flatten the board out and ride straight up the wake while letting go with your back hand. The instant that you come to the top of the wake you want to square up to the wake and reach back with your head initiating the rotation. I think that most people's misconception is that you turn the board halfway up the wake, getting no pop causing a low fast rotation. When i do a tantrum I almost wait to feel the pop and then square up to the wake. After you are in the air it is up to you to spot your landing and bend your knees to absorb the shock. Sorry for the long post but I was just trying to go through the steps in my head

long posts aren't bad, so long as you get what you want to say, said.
Peca are you feeling the trip feeling because (and I'm no expert) it looks like you are hucking the flip. _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects

The falls are not bad at all. The worst fall i had when i was learning them was landing on my knees. I found the tantrum pretty east tho. Just cut your hardest at the wake and then at the last second before you jump square your board to the wake and then the wake pretty much flips you over. if you do it right youll know it. it is almost effortless when you do it right. Hope that helps.
