I am upgrading my stereo on my '99 Maristar 210, but am having a problem finding a location to mount this 4 channel amp. The only place that I have found is mounting it to the floor under the seat directly across from the driver. I really don't want it on the floor because I take it out on the river and have taken on water quite a few times hitting big waves. Does anyone have any better suggestions? Has anyone mounted it to the wall in their storage area and how did you it? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks...

Big Carni, check the picture, mount underneath, preferably on the wall with the "X", but use your best judgement with your boats configuration. I have mounted amps here before, most important is screw length. Second is how to run the RCA and remote wires, if possible go directly across (assuming stereo is next to driver), if not run them up underneath the gunnel (I think that is the right term, X-star pic w/yellow), up around the bow. It is a long way to run, and the RCA wires will get expensive but it works, just don't go cheap on the RCA, buy a set with good unsulation (Monster cable).

I put mine in storage area in front of observers seat .... there is a nice solid structural brace to mount it on and keep it off floor (Maristar 225).

here are some poor pics of it....

These three amps are mounted to a board that is mounted to a box which holds two 12" W6 subs. There is another amp mounted on top of the box but you can not see it.

I had mine mounted (stacked) in the cuddy, until someone decided they liked them better than me and helped themselves to them, and for good measure, trash it out at the same time - cut up speakers, cig burns in carpet... really a nice feeling! (bastards)

Always Mount on a vertical plane (unless you are floating your amps)...and higher than the floor board....

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help. It looks to me like the place to put that amp, according to everyone, is in the storage locker. The configuration that I like best is the way that DiyGuy mounted his to the wall. That should keep my storage freed up. My next question to everyone is, how did you mount that board and amps to the fiberglass like that? I don’t have any mounting areas that I can see. The other side of that wall is the walk thru and I don't really want screws or bolts showing. Could I fiberglass that board on or some sort of mounting platform?
Also, in my first posting I mentioned that we tend to hit choppy water once in a while out on the river as well as some juicy double ups and was wonder if they can handle that kind of bouncing around?
Hey MX21, what structural brace are you talking about? I don’t see one in mine, but they should be the same.

Thanks...

Do yo have a cut out under the dash of your boat? I put mine right underneath the fuse box in my centurian. Figured if the factory mounted the fuse box there the it must not get wet. Also it is only about 2 feet of rca wire needed to go to the deck from there. I also mounted my satelite radio in there on the oposite wall that the first picture shows with the red X.
