cell phones

im looking at getting a cell phone and i remeber a while back there were some phones that u could when someone called have there picture come up..... im gettin a verizon plan for sure. do they have any phones that do that? and maybe even have the walkie talkie thing.

Verizon doesn't have walkie talkie, nextel does. If you get a camera phone I believe you can take a picture of someone and have it come up when they call. Otherwise most Verizon phones have a small folder of cartoon pictures that you can use.

jryoung, actually, they do offer the service now. Their PTT phones are quite expensive though.

My Samsung A530 can do picture ID, but you have to upload them through a serial cord. I think there is also a service where you can upload them to a website and then download to your phone. Go to www.verizonwireless.com and check out the Samsung phones and also check out the section on "Get it now".

Sidenote: the A530 is especially sweet because it has a full-color outside screen that displays the pic - so you can still use the flip-to-answer feature.

Sprint has Walkie Talkie now too, it just isn't that widespread.

alltell does to, I think unless nextel really improves there service they will be gone in the next few years. They have basically lived off their ptt stuff. I don't know about everywhere else but in the southeast there service sucks. I have alltell and my dad has nextel and whenever we go anywhere together i usually have service and he doesn't. Also when my dad had alltell for his work phone, the company was phasing over to nextel, he was one of the last ppl with alltell. He would go to meetings for work, mostly in remote places, and all the ppl that already had nextel, and they would never have service, but he would. Not sure if that last part made sense but o well.

Anyway all that to say that now that all these other companies starting ptt services, i think at least one of these companies is going to get a ptt service good enough that all the companys are gonna start switching over, causing all the private consumers to also jump ship. Just my opinion

jryoung, I'm not so hot on the cartoon pictures, but I did set ScottA's number to flash up a cartoon pig when he calls. Mr. Green

I've got no complaints about it so far... how about you?
