Today I went wakeboarding for the 4th time. I had no problem getting up the first time i went a couple of weeks ago, and I progressed to jumping on the first day (though i only landed one :lol). I can jump and land 2-3ft jumps fine, and I'm pretty good at getting up on my edge, but I think my problem is that I'm trying to jump more than I am trying to "push" down on the wake. I really can't get much air/distance (in terms of reaching the other wake). I might not be holding my edge long enough either. When I'm landing, what is it best to concentrate on (in terms of what to look at and body/rope position? I can almost do a surface 180 (i did it in the middle of the wake), but I was incredibly unprepared for riding switch and I fell pretty soon after. I've been jumping heelside this whole time. Is it better (or easier) to start with jumping toeside?
What's the best way to ollie?
Is it better to learn without the fins on?
Also, I've been wakeboarding on my friend's boat which doesn't have a tower. Is this going to severely limit my ability to do stuff (considering I'm pretty new to the whole thing?)
I can't wait to go back out Thanks! |

The best way to ollie is to bend at the knees and not the waist. Its sort of like you are on land. If you can ollie on a skateboard its like that front to back movement.
When I started out I used fins, though Im not sure if that helped or hurt me. Not having a tower doesnt restrict your abilites extremely. You can still throw backrolls and such with the rope down low. At your current level I wouldnt worry too much about it.
Some of your questions could be answered by the "Search" button at the top of the screen.
Also you should learn both Heelside and Toeside. For most it seems that HS is easier, though make sure to get down your TS before you start to progress more. |

i've just been doing heelside because it seems more comfortable. Next time i go out i'll try toeside jumps...
I've been reading/searching the forums for the past hour or so, and it seems like it will really help me the next time i go out. |

Hey,
1. keep your knees bent and ollie like a skateboard.
2. fins dont help or hurt extremely but do help some in edging
3. i dont have a tower but can still go inverted _________________ show_boy08 |
