Boat insurance is only needed if you want to tow, store or use your boat. Your auto insurance does not cover you boat in an accident, your homeowners insurance does not cover it if it burns in your garage, and if you run into or over someone you might as well give them the boat, the truck, and the house.

I hit a rock with my prop two years ago. It cost $2000 in parts and labor to fix. I paid my $500 deductable and got a four blade prop out of the deal. Bottom line is if you are insured you don't have to worry about these things. The price depends on your boat value. I insure mine for about 28K and it costs me 30 a month.
Hope this helps.

Very Happy Bought 01 X-Star in January. Of course lenders require insurance... Mine was about $500 to $600 for the year at guaranteed value of $35K. That means if the boat is totalled, I get the full agreed value of $35K. No screwing around with depreciated value.

Another cost of doing business just like gas, maintenance, storage and beer.

For our 03 Super Air it was $423 from Ski Safe. It covers 50k for the boat, 3500 for the trailer.
