|
|
My son is 10 - he's riding on on O'brien 140 (basic board I purchased a few years ago). He's pretty solid and gets up and rides well. But now he wants to learn tricks.
What's the proper progression of learning tricks?
Where to start, etc? Thanks |

The best thing to do would be to check out one of the great instructional videos that are out. If he's 10, he'd probably get a kick out of "Detention". Other good instructional videos are "Higher Education", and "Wake Trix" (new).
Other than that it's best for him to get comfortable on the board, then try to jump one wake, then two, then try some grabs and 180's. That should occupy him for the rest of the summer.
Hope this helps. |

You will get all sorts of different advice here but IMO-
W2W HS and TS then add some basic grabs...
W2W hs and TS 180's then add some basics grabs...
HS backroll or Tantrum depending on the riders habits....
Backroll just enforces the progressive edge and the Tantrum is learning a new release all together so it F's people up some times.
Then 360's HS and TS.
From there the rider knows best.. _________________ PEACE

I learned W2Ws, 180s, and just learned a 360. I think the backroll will be next. I also need to work on doing the 180s switch and learn a switch 360 and TS 360. I want to learn backside 180s also, I might try those this weekend.
I would recommend learning every trick regular and switch before moving on to the next trick. It is hard for me to make myself do that because I want to keep learning new tricks.
Good Luck! |

I would do the same, except swap 360's and inverts around. I think 360's are alot easier to do. _________________
