Good work on picking up a Tige! The 22V already throws a big wake without adding ballast or weight.
The TAPS system does not make the wake bigger. It allows you to shape the wake depending on different variables such as skiing or wakeboarding, number of people in the boat, any ballast or weight that you have, speed you are riding at.....in other words you can fine tune it.
Very few Tiges leave the factory with the optional ballast system. With the 22V you should have plenty of size without adding any weight unless you really want the wake to be huge. If a ballast sytem is something that you really want or need, check out tigeowners.com and get the number for Rival Ballast systems...........they do a nice job. |

Yea first off you will like the 22V alot. Its already such a heavy boat the wake is nice without ballast. To answer your question, the Taps is like a trim tab that will shape the wake. Couldn't really have said it better than Tige22iTyper his answer was as accurate as it gets. _________________ www.Tigeowners.com

| ya man.. for skiing at like 30mph it makes a difference.. you can see the size of the wake decrease with the taps... and for wakebaording its awesome.. the boat is already heavy enough that you dont need ballast unless you are goin HUGE |

For what its worth, with 4-6 decent size guys and a 540lb sack in the front, the wake is about to my lower thigh. Its not only the size that makes the wake sweet- its the shape. My 22v has a REALLY curly wake that throws you up like a kicker. As far as width, is pretty wide like the 03 and later Xstar- but a lot curlier. _________________ I eat Vegans. Medium-Rare.

Another very happy 22V owner. We are just starting to add weight and the taps provides great control over the wake. _________________ Founder of Monster Tower Wakeboard Towers
