Hi All,
I am going out on Tuesday and I am going to pratice jumping (I can already get a little air). I am pretty new to this, but I already feel really comfortable on on my board. While I understand about standing tall at the wake, and building my prog. edge, I am not too sure what you all mean by building tension with the rope and keeping the handle in. Can any of you please share a little info on that?
Thanks in advance!!!!!
Tim

dont worry about that too much. as long as you understand progressive edging and standing tall youll be fine. the tension is being built up while your edging. thats the only way i can explain it. it will all make sense when you go ride.

This trick tip really walks you through how to do the proper aggressive edge and get pop off the wake.

Basically, you shouldn't jump, you should stand tall and use the tension built in the rope to generate your pop.

Yes, the same principles are used when doing "Air" tricks such as inverts without using a wake at all.

Thanks for the link, Pat. I think I have a pretty good grasp on how to do it now. I do have one good question, though:

It says in the link that as a pre-req to be able to ollie. It seems like everyone says NOT to ollie as you get to the wake. What gives?

Thanks again for the info. You guys are great!

It says in the link:

"Standing tall and keeping the line tight is what generates your pop (air). You don't want to ollie, or physically jump. Just stand tall and keep your weight even over both feet."

To get about 2-3 feet on my 1.5 foot wake I do the standing tall and it almost seems like I'm jumping but I guess Im just standing tall real fast and then flying into the air, and possibly onto my face.

just cut out as far as you possibly can until you are like 25-30 feet outsidethe wake. once your out there start getting strait or parallel to the boat and once it starts pulling you in lean and cut as hard as you can. once youve got to the wake pull in with the rope as hard as you can. this will help you get some last second speed. and then stand up tall

is it best to start learning to try to get "pop" heelside or toeside? Also, when coming in do you basically push down against the wake slowly and then as soon as you hit the top of it you should be straight-legged?
