| I didnt get to wakeboard last summer because I was injured. The year before I was trying backrolls and kept landin on my ass. I am scared to try another one because I cant even do one on a trampoline. I have this fear of flipping like a cartwheel in the air. So today I tries a couple tantrums for the first time. The first time I do not know what I but the second time I think I over rotatd and landed on my ass. I think with a few more try's I could land it. But I really want to do a backroll. What do I do? |

| Don't TRY so hard, just kinda hit the wake and loft off into a flip. When you get tense and try to flip, you will ALWAYS over rotate. |

| Just focus on one at a time. IF you are comfortable with the Tantrum then learn it first. If you don't feel the wake push you up and loft you into the trick then your gonna have a hard time. When I first started I would kill my pop and flip really fast and land on my butt or back. But now that i really wait i can do them with ease.As far as the backroll on the tramp, don't worry, you can't really simulate one because the wake does the work. |

| Alan C, basically go for it, the chances of you getting hurt on any backflips are about the same as a front flip. I think backflips are easier though because normally you have more time to spot the landing. |

| i think the tantrum is a piece of cake once you can do a backflip on a trampoline, today i went out and tried it, first time i landed right on board but let go of rope because i wasnt expecting to land it, second time i nailed it |

| Alan C, if you're scared of cracking your head on the board, a helmet might help. They might look a little dumb sometimes, but if I'm going to be working on inverts, i never ride without it. Also, just don't think about it so much when you do them. When I think about it too, much I either start the rotation too early, or land on my head (whiplash). |

| sh0rtyme is right. i wear a helmet whenever im trying something new. i have been trying backrolls and have tried about 10 times and havnt landed it yet and my rotation looks all messed up on camera. im not waiting long enough and im not popping cause im trying to hard to flip and i dont get any air. im hoping to get it eventually but i dont know how to fix my rotation problem. its hard to describe but pretty muc my board isnt staying straight and going around its twisting first. hard to explain sorry |

Just dont think of it like a flip. A backroll is so easy. When you're coming into the wake you just lean back too far at the top of the wake. It pretty much just spins you around. Then before you know it the water's in front of you and you're like whoa I'm right side up again. Its not like on a trampoline where you have to spin it. You just lean a little bit and hang on. The crashes aren't bad..
I'd say keep going for both of them. |

| Also, if you're hitting the wake right, and looking over your shoulder, it should just spin you until you can feel yourself leveling out, at which point you should open your eyes and spot your landing (look for the boat). |

learned my first backroll yesterday thanks to nor cal wakeboard school...on my second attempt i caught my toeside edge landing and board came up behind me and hit me on the left backside of my head
small but really wide cut..i dont know if i want to post pictures.. anyways when i landed it i did it because half way through the roll i let go with my back hand that spun me faster to get that board under my feet but i learned the backroll in one day not even 7 tries _________________ money doesnt buy happiness...they should end that phrase with (just kidding) |

kid, that sounds painful... i have learned 4 inverts and have never got injured seriously, or even hit my head on the board or anything... the worst thing that has happened to me is i hit myself in the eye with a handle lol....
thing is... dont worry about the injuries, and if you do, get a helmet |

| well i am trying a bakcroll right now i have almost landed it i just need a little more hieght and i will have it, i have had a couple of bad falls doing them, the nose of my board would catch the top of the opposite wake and rip my foot out of the binding then my hp would slap the water really hard i had a massive bruise and could try one for 4 days but i jsut hit the wake and put the baord under my butt for the rotation and then extend when i am closer to the water. |

go 20 mph and do them inside out for b rolls. I was almost landign them and then I took em w2w and I landed it second try. Its one of those tricks that works easier w2w. _________________ I wakebaord, wakeskate,do anythign stupid, hurt others and have fun doign it. |
