I wanted to learn these (TS Backroll) soon but one of my friends said to not waste my time learning them because it doesnt feel cool at all. I guess he said its an awkward feeling and doesnt feel natural. Just wondering what your guys take on this was.

He is a tool. if you do them right and with a grab they definatly are sick. YOu want to get that 'stuck' feeling when adding a grab, then you come down soft as can be.

Sorry to contradict what some have said abotu a strong toeside edge, if you do the techniquly correst you don't need a lot of edge at all. the biggest thing is being very pateint and driving your hips right up the wake. you need to feel like you are trying to hump the sky and this will force you to stand tal at the wake and ride al the way up. If you do it properly you will get loads of pop. Once you get the pop throw you head back and let go with your back hand. The rotation will be smooth and easy. Once you get these nailed it is one of the easiest tricks to put a grab in. The wake kinda of slams the board up into your chest making it easy to grab. As for your freind, tell him he doesn't know shi*. This trick is the foundation trick for numerous other tricks. There isn't a trick in the sport that you should just "not bother" to learn, ya there are lots you wont learn but it's not like they arent worth learning.

When i do ts backrolls. I use the same edge as I do to do a w2w grab, a lil more edge than just w2w...

I pop then throw my head back, exact same as a tantrum, and i do it. Its not hard, your body follows where you head goes, so just look back...

Why is it so hard to get air doing this trick/waiting long enough to throw it. The only way I can do it is off the double up, otherwise I get about 2 inches of air. I tried one this morning and I don't think I even left the water. However on my scarecrows I have trouble extending enough to slow down my rotation and the same with tantrums. Frustrating.

everytime I try the TS backroll the handle pull my too hard, so I have to let it go and I land to blind (no rope) but always on my board. I'll try to pull the handle 1rst and see what it's look like.

KEEP TWO HANDS ON THE HANDLE until you are on the way down and you wont come up short or rotate low... it's hard to do at first specially, if you are already doing them one arm layout style.

What works for some people is to work on the TS roll 2 revert keeping two hands on the handle the whole time.

J_DOGG,
That is funny because I have noticed when I try to throw it to revert I actually get closer. I will try it tomorrow and see what happens. It feels better going to revert also, I guess it is similar to a front roll verses a scarecrow.
