I think that there should be an exchange boarder program instead of an exchange student program. For example, people that have boats should allow people who do not have boats to live and ride with them for the summer. How cool would that be?

If anyone wants to offer, I would be more than happy to be the test dummy for the exchange boarder program Laughing

Anytime you want to come down, you can stay with me and my family. There are always extras at my house anyway. I live with 5 people but we almost always cook for 6. Only hitch, you have to clean up after yourself. Wink I hate cleaning up after people.

Very Happy Very Happy

OK, that's it. I want 7 bedrooms in the next house so everybody can come and stay with me. Laughing Actually, if I get the house I designed, it really does have 7 bedrooms, an office, and a game room Shocked . I'm looking to see how much money we can save if we build it ourselves.

It won't be on the water though. I'm trying to get at least 2 acres and I can't afford that and waterfront. I'm going to have to settle for living 10 minutes from the water. Mr. Green

leslisa, sweet! I come to florida about once a year with the fam... usually near bradenton to visit family. we stay around st. armon's circle. I know my parents would let me take the rental car to come your way. Oh, and about picking up.... ha ha.. I am an only child that was raised in a house where both parents were dentists. Everything always had to be sterile (just like in the office) and organized. to this day i am completely anal about cleanliness. It drives my roommates crazy because everything always has to be in its place and i walk around cleaning up after people. Sometimes i pick up my roommates plates before they are done eating. clutter and dirt is my biggest pet peave. I think I am the only 21 year old living with six roommmates in a college house that dusts and does the windows once a week! Mr. Green

My house is always open to people wanting to ride. We have two extra bedrooms and baths, live right on a lake with a boat in the boathouse. All you have to do is find a way to Mississippi and we'll take care of the rest. Often known as "chillin at the Landry Inn"

Lake Rabbit, Sounds great. I could adopt you if you are willing to help keep the house neat and tidy Laughing . Seriously, my kids are good about this too. They aren't perfect, but my son vacuumes and does laundry, my daughter keeps the kitchen clean. (Now her room on the other hand . . .) Rolling Eyes

Tiff - Where is Hattiesburg?

I wish I was younger and could go on a road trip during the summer to all of the people who have offered to put people up and go wakeboarding. That would be an experience!!

Lisa, Hattiesburg is about 1 hour due north of the Gulf of Mexico in Mississippi. I wish I could do the road trip, but work and school have me majorly pinned. So, I invite people who are road tripping to come to me.

leslisa, wow, you cant believe how much I wish I had parents that wakeboarded. We live right on the water here in ohio, and my dad has a bass boat that cost him the same amount as an air nauti, and he hardly uses it, but loves it. Every time I look at it, my heart breaks when I think that I could have a nauti. Your children should be proud!

ah, excuse me, but you ARE 21. Work a couple three jobs for a year or so and you can get a decent used boat.

Why be down because someone else ( dad in this case ) didn't get the kind of boat you wanted? You're supposedly an adult, well, go out and get those jobs!

In no time, you'll have your own boat.

And yes, I've had boats since I was 16. Worked for them, paid my own college and kept the boats too. So, no whining Smile

Leggester, that is wonderful that you could manage all that. I am sure your parents were proud. I however cannot swing that and school, rent, etc., and still be able to afford a boat. I work two jobs as it is and go to school year around in order to graduate early with a masters. I would buy an old boat if I could, and had planned on it, but it did not work out financially. It will be a few years before I can swing that.

Good idea! I always have trouble finding a second or thirth man... (In Holland it's not allowed to go wakeboarding with less than 3 people)! This morning the water was as glass... but no one who wants to ride... (everyone had to work)...

Lake Rabbit,
I only live about an hour away from Indian Lake... In fact on my way to my parents we drive right through your town. I have been on Indian Lake and it always seems to be really busy. If you want a ride behind an xstar, let me know... We are always looking for chicks that want to ride.

Leggester, you make boat ownership sound easier than it is Wink My personal opinion is that a person should be very financially sound before jumping into boat ownership. That means good job, steady income, little or manageable debt(not including credit cards) and have truly thought out how to store, tow it. It's hard to understand all that it entails until you do it, but it's not easy. I guess it's harder for me because I'm a single girl, it would be nice to have a guy around to help Smile But, financially, it is one of the more daunting things I've taken on. Let's just say that with gas, storage, boat payment, insurance and maintanence, I easily spend $1000 a month. Sorry for the long post, I just don't want anyone to jump into something like this without really knowing what it entails.

MissJ, I actually think it is. I decided when I was 'kid' that I was a boater. Therefore, discretionary money went into boats, not bars Wink

Also, I am still a frugal S.O.B. I'd rather have the boat and a few toys than a new car. Except for my wife's new vehicle, I've not had a new one since '84.

Older model 'burbans and broncos tow the boat quite well I believe.

Also, if you start out with older model boats, and cherry them out and start trading up, before you know it, you're in a fairly new boat.

The liability coverage for the boat is a few hundred per year. Don't get more than about half a million. DO NOT get coverage for your equipment. Most Renter's and homeowner's insurance pays for equipment.

I'll take your thought one step further - INCLUDE CREDIT CARDS!!!!! If you don't pay them off monthly, they are the biggest waste of dollars ever!

I basically have an apartment free to my use in Tahoe. (My mom basically lives at her b/f's house). So if anyone wants to come up and wakeboard/snowboard. I have a boat on a bouy, 15 mins from my house. LMK!

Great idea Lake Rabbit!

I go out of town all the time in the summer....it would be soo nice to ride on the trips! I also love making road trips in the summer. I am going to Irvine this weekend...and possibly Santa Cruz next weekend...

Belmont131, Hey thanks for the offer! My only day off is Friday, so anytime you want someone to come ride, let me know! That would make my weekend! And Indian Lake is really busy on the weekends.....weekenders you know... but during the week it is calm and beautiful. Its a wakeboard lake during the week and a party lake on the weekends. Laughing
