I have a '97 Centurion Air Warrior direct drive. I love my boat except for one thing...it is VERY weight sensitive. We will have the passenger move literally from side to side to get one side not to whitewash. I weight the boat alot (500 in front 500 on either side of the engine and 500 in locker) and love the wake, except for this aspect. My questions:
1) will trim tabs help this?
2) will trim tabs be able to handle a fully weighted boat
3) The hull of my boat is not a true "V", will this matter?
any suggestions or links would be greatly appreciated! |

A trim tab is like a little hull being dragged through the water. Behind the trim tab you will find a small wake being created. That small wake will affect your regular wake. That is why you only find a center mounted trim tab on our boars. If you did want to go through with this, mount the tabs adjacent to eachother in the center of the boat to keep the wake about the same. This may have an undesirable effect on your handling. Unfortunately, there is only one way to find out try it and remove it if it does not work.
If you want to see the wake effects of the trim tabs, ask for a ride on a sport-fisher and watch to see what it does to the wake. _________________ Original Boarder from 1983

Steve,
I wouls suggest talking to your ceunirion deal before such a major project. I have an 2002 avalanche that came with a regulat wake plate (ie trim tab). I decided to put on the hydralic one because I got tired of adjusting it for different water conditions. Its a great option to have one your boat but isnt necessary.
I did the project myself and it cost about 800 bucks and 2 days worth of work. Its a major project and if you get squimish drilling holes in your hull it isnt for you. You could always take it to a shop but its going to cost you.
Ill post pictures of mine when I get home tonight.
Good luck in your decision. |
