| I'm kind of new to admiring wakeskating and don't dare atempt it. I prefer things lashed to my feet like rollerblades, skis, wakeboards, snowboards and such. But I want to give those who can do shuv its and the like on a wakeskate some due applause. I think wakeskating is far harder than skateboarding and skateboarding is not easy. Just keep up the good work and push the limits. Try to do some scarecrows or something on a wakeskate. I saw the video of the backroll when it came out, but that's the last I have heard of big tricks. Maybe someone will try an osmosis 360 body varial or something, good luck I say. |

The backroll was fake? I remember it being on the wakeboarder front page. I don't remember any scandal. He just whipped it around fast and held the board with his hand. If it was fake, then that guy is an idiot. _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects

simland, it wasnt fake per se. The guy put a handle on his skate so that when he did the flip he could hold on to keep the board on his feet. There was a big argument over it when that thread came out a while ago.
The only other person I've seen attempt an invert on a wakeskate was grubbie in Boombox. He was just messing around and the board went flying, but it was cool to watch anyway. _________________ "I knew those girls were pros, but don't tell Turtle, it'll break his heart." - Drama, Entourage |

ive tried inverts on a wakeskate but not seriously. wakeskates are good for practicing raleys (not really an invert but oh well) and its fun just to do like backrolls and frontflips off of it. _________________

simland, sounds like you think the only big tricks in wakeskating are inverts... from what i can tell the industry is trying to push it away from inverts and raleys and such. even tho a osmosis 360 BV sounds cool, its too much of a wakeboard sounding trick for most pros to want to do it. i think you need to watch a wakeskating movie like sfumato or asterisk* to see the big tricks goin on rite now. trust me they are not inverts _________________ ...island style... |

wakeguy2008, ive tried that before its not just one guy who does it.
che blanc, i agree with you 100% that wakeskating wants to be far from inverts but its just fun to fly off the board and do a flip every once in a while _________________

Hmmm I've never seen a body varial on a wakeboard. But why limit yourself and take a sport in one direction rather than in all possible directions? Shuv its are cool and slider tricks are neat but style gains points too. Most of the hard tricks just like in skateboarding go unnoticed to the untrained eye. They either happen too fast or require very small and nimble footwork that seems easy to those who don't do it. To really get wakeskating to a point where people will be willing to watch it on TV you will need to incorporate some "wakeboard" sounding tricks.(I'd like to see wakeskating and Wakeboarding get more network air time. Much better than skateboarding in my mind.) Once you get that going you can throw in the technical aspect as well and everyone will be happy. _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects

| simland, most people don't want wakeskating to go in that direction where people just think it looks cool. the good wakeskaters out there would probably rather see harder things being done. who cares if the general public thinks it is easy? i would rather see people push the sport than make it appeal to others. |

No one said anything about availbilty, there are millions of people who can Kickflip on a skateboard, but only a handful can do a kickflip on a skate... _________________ wakeboards

yea i second that. the tricks are the same but the style of wakeskating is much different. just wait til somebody lands a tre flip (i bet they are in the works). it will look so awkward ollieing and kicking it out where as in skateboarding you can scoop the board. _________________

| wakeskating is much more technical than wakeboarding is. you need much better balance and a sense of where the board is at all times or youre screwed whereas with a wakeboard you are always gonna know where it is. and looking at the pros, if only 4 people(from wakeboarding magazine) can do a w2w kickflip then youre looking at some pretty hradcore stuff. |

w2w kickflip, that's pretty sick. Is anyone doing sliders yet? I would think sliders are the next logical progression if they are trying to stick to the skateboarding type of tricks while staying away from the more wakeboard oriented tricks. _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects

okay, i thought no1 had ever landed one. if so then why arent they on film? ive only seen grubbs fall on almost landing one. i also so aaron reed try the bs flip that was real tight. id like to see some bigger tricks go down, its gonna be awesome. imagine like a w2w big flip. _________________

| brian grubb isnt the best at kick flips. he has never landed a w2w kickflip. Wakeboarding Magazine lists Aaron Reed, Danny Hampson, Steve Shoenhals, and Daniel Lovett as the only people in the WORLD who have landed one. By now prob George Daniels as also. That guy is sick. |
